From all such as the sense bases, afflictions arise, and the suffering that results from them becomes the basis for delusion by clinging to these. The naturally arising wisdom is luminous, its essence is emptiness, its nature is clarity, and the flow of various rays of light is unceasing. However, by clinging to the grasper and the grasped as self-characteristics, awareness becomes a habit in the mind, manifesting as the five poisons and the three poisons. The root of delusion lies in clinging to "I" and "mine," so the appearance of samsara as delusion, like an image or a dream, a void or the illusion of falling hair, appears to be real even though it is not. This is how it arises. This is the clinging to the grasping "I" and the grasped "mine," like the thought of clinging to a house as one's own. Regarding the ways of delusion, there are two. First, the display of delusion and liberation through whether or not one recognizes one's own nature: Now, I will explain in detail the basis of delusion and the ways of delusion. Thus, the nature of mind, unchanging and perfectly established, is also the Dharmakaya. Due to ignorance and clinging, through the habit of conceptual imputation, it appears as impure other-powered, possessing delusion. Object and meaning, self and other, are grasped as dualistic appearances, from which immeasurable suffering spontaneously arises. When one realizes the meaning of the unchanging nature of mind, by meditating on the perfect path without error, the field of pure other-powered will be well cultivated, and one will be able to rest from the city of existence. In this, the Yogachara school speaks of three great perfections: the completely imputed, the other-powered, and the perfectly established. The completely imputed is also divided into two: the cessation of characteristics and the establishment of names. The cessation of characteristics refers to that which does not exist on any level but is imputed by thought, such as a rabbit's horn and the so-called "self." Moreover, there are also the bad realists, and all the mental fabrications of names and meanings of anything and everything. How is that? For example, the name "lion" that is given to something, even if one searches in every part of the body, one cannot find it, and even if one describes the form of its meaning, it is only a mental fabrication, and its self-characteristic does not exist in the object of speech, memory, and mind, like the sound and meaning of fire. The completely imputed of name establishment is: for the time being, in the state of delusion, these appear in various forms such as the environment and beings, pleasure and pain, aggregates, elements, and sense bases. These are not actually established, but are delusions of the mind.

Because appearances are like dreams, they are called various kinds of conceptualization. All of these, although non-existent in nature, appear in delusion and are falsely attributed, hence the name conceptualization. As it says in the *Yogācārabhūmi*: "Those various conceptualizations are produced by a mind that is deluded by non-existence." Thus it is. Dependent on others also has two aspects: impure and pure dependent on others. Among these, the impure dependent on others refers to the deluded appearances that arise at each of the sense gates, such as the impure appearances of the environment and beings, like earth, stones, mountains, and rocks, which arise from the accumulation of habitual tendencies. The pure dependent on others refers to the appearances that arise in pure realms and in the pure objects seen by Buddhas, such as pure lands, the seven precious jewels, and the appearances that arise as delightful and radiant palaces. Here, some argue that dependent origination is not reasonable according to the Yogācāra teachings, because everything is included in one's own appearances. I do not think this argument is reasonable, because in this way, even the part that is habituated from one's own consciousness is not established as one's own, just as the image in a mirror, although formed by the cause of shape, is not the face itself. The statement that everything is included in one's own appearances also needs to be examined: Is it included in the mind as mere appearance, or is appearance the mind and included in the mind? If it is the former, there is no room for examination of inclusion or non-inclusion at the time of mere appearance, so saying inclusion is just words, because the form of meaning is left out. If it is the latter, what is the reason for this? If you say that because it arises from the mind, it is the mind, then the son born from a woman also becomes a woman, because he is not a woman; and the impure matter born from the body also becomes the body, because it is not the body, which is clear in appearance. Furthermore, if you say that because it appears in the mind, it is the mind, then form also becomes eye consciousness, because it appears in eye consciousness; and the Buddha who previously appeared to an inverted sentient being also becomes the mind of that sentient being. If you accept this, then the mind of an inverted sentient being becomes a Buddha, and when a Buddha appears to sentient beings, either the entire realm of sentient beings becomes a Buddha, or the Buddha, who is free from all defilements, also becomes a sentient being. This fault can never be avoided. If there is no mind,
