It is similar to the teaching of the Earth Dharma." etc. "Second, extensively explaining the general meaning is divided into thirteen parts. First, although cherishing the body, it is impermanent: This impure and changing body, without essence, separates and is without support. Therefore, abandon attachment to the body and contemplate impermanence day and night. This is the advice: The basis of all suffering and displeasure, this body, the great source of arising afflictions, although adorned with clothes, ornaments, flower garlands, etc., and served with offerings of the best food and drink, in the end, it is impermanent, decaying, and separating. This body is food for foxes, vultures, jackals, and wolves. Abandon the mind that cherishes it as permanent and pure, and from this very moment, practice the supreme Dharma. This is the advice. Always holding one's own body as 'I' and 'mine,' offering it food and clothing, and serving it harmoniously, even the slightest criticism from others is displeasing, so one retorts and prevents harm. However, Shantideva said, 'This body is like a borrowed object for a moment.' As it is said, it is uncertain when the Lord of Death will take it. When the body and mind separate, this body cannot follow and will remain as food for vultures, dogs, foxes, and eagles. Therefore, contemplating this, it is meaningless to commit sins for the sake of cherishing this body. One should employ this body like a servant to perform virtuous deeds, and give it appropriate food and clothing as reward. It is appropriate to diligently practice the Dharma day and night. As it is said in the Sutra of Advice to the King: 'Great King, for example, a great mountain from all four directions, solid, stable, and full of essence, not destroyed, not cracked, extremely hard, without gaps, touching the sky and resting on the earth like a majestic peak, grinding all grasses, trees, gums, branches, leaves, etc., and all sentient beings into powder. At this time, it is impossible to escape quickly, resist with strength, redeem with wealth, or resist with medicine, mantras, or remedies. Great King, similarly, these four great fears will come. It is impossible to escape quickly, resist with strength, redeem with wealth, or resist with medicine, mantras, or remedies. What are the four? Old age, sickness, and death.'

And decay! Great King, old age destroys youth and comes. Sickness destroys health and comes. Decay destroys all perfections and comes. Death destroys life and comes. For these, it is not easy to escape by speed, or to resist by strength, or to redeem by wealth, or to pacify by objects, medicines, and mantras. Great King, just as the king of beasts, the lion, enters among the beasts, seizes the beasts and controls them as he wishes. That beast becomes powerless due to the terrible power of the strong one. Great King, similarly, struck by the arrow of the Lord of Death, separated from plumpness, without a protector, without refuge, without relatives, without friends, the joints separate and break, the flesh and blood dry up, the body is tormented by disease, thirst is thirst, the face changes, the limbs tremble, unable to work, without power, saliva, mucus, urine, and vomit cover the body, the senses of eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind cease to function. Hiccups occur, a harsh sound comes out, the doctor abandons him, medicines, food, edibles, and drinks are all wasted, preparing to go to another world, he lies on the last bed, sinks into the cycle of beginningless birth, old age, and death, life remains only a little, terrified by Yama, gone into the power of demons, breathing stops, mouth and nose gape open, teeth clench, he begs, saying, "Give alms!" He enters from the existence of karma into another existence, alone, without a second, without a friend, abandoning this world, going to another world, lifting a great burden, entering a great darkness, falling into a great precipice, entering a dense thicket, going to a great wilderness, carried away by a great ocean, driven by the wind of karma, going to a directionless place, entering a great battlefield, seized by a great demon, floating in the sky, surrounded by father and mother, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters.
