From... The clear and unobstructed touch arises. At the time of appearance, it is light; at the time of completion, it is self-appearance. At the time of habituation, it transforms into the body. Through the connection of wisdom and means, one sees the five aspects of the ultimate mandala. Thus it is said. The characteristics of the body, awareness, space, and wisdom that abide in this way are: Again, from that very text: The characteristics of the body are as follows: unchanging, clear, empty, and free from concepts. The characteristics of awareness are as follows: subtle, radiant, continuous, and moving. The characteristics of space are as follows: vast, abundant, dense, empty, and limitless; clear, warm, and cool; possessing the nature of lightness and movement; pervasive and encompassing. The characteristics of wisdom are as follows: arising, arisen, self-illuminating; primordial, knowing, and realizing; clear, radiant, and boundless. The supreme wisdom of emptiness and clarity is considered to be the nature of secret mantra. Thus it is said. Secondly, the state of the lamp is: for gods, one cubit; for asuras, four fingers; for humans, one inch; for animals, self-illuminating; for pretas, the size of a sesame seed; for hell beings, the size of a horsehair. For Buddhas, immeasurable; for Bodhisattvas, the length of an arrow; for Nirmanakayas, one fathom. The appearance of self-luminous wisdom is: Again, from that very text: The size of the abiding state of wisdom, and from the directions of the six appearances, this is well explained: For those in Tushita, it abides one cubit; for those in conflict, it abides four fingers; for those with equal parts, it is one inch; for those with two parts, it is just self-illuminating; for those who are hungry, it is the size of a sesame seed; for those who suffer, it is the size of a horsehair. Thus it is said to abide. For Buddhas, it is immeasurable; for Bodhisattvas, the length of an arrow; for Nirmanakayas, it abides one fathom. Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Nirmanakayas, and gods, appear in the manifest realm. Below them, in the five realms, one will not be able to see unless it is pointed out. Thus it is said. Among them, the appearance of the lamp of the three—Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and gods—that self-appear in space is large because the realm is vast. The other five are the realms of one's own body, so they are small. Thirdly, there are two ways in which the awareness of space manifests: Space is the five lights that are within, the inherent radiance of wisdom appearing as blue in the external realm.

The vast, all-pervading light, and the great five-wisdom light that arises from it, spontaneously appear in the field of perception. Rigpa is the appearance of the Vajra Chain, complete with the partial form. As it says in 'Accomplishment of Skill': 'The ultimate view of all Buddhas does not go beyond space and rigpa.' And in the Vajra Chain itself: 'The partial form is inconceivable. On the lamp of self-born space, the self-appearing light is inconceivable. On the lamp of empty bindu, the radiant bindu is inconceivable. On the essence of the five wisdoms, the symbolic words are inconceivable. On the appearance of the unconditioned realm, the unobstructed arising is inconceivable.' Fourth, there are two ways to practice: controlling with the key points, and the experiential appearances that arise from that. The first of these has two aspects: the general way of settling, and the specific way of controlling. The first is as it says in 'Self-Arising': 'In the sky of dharmata's self-appearance, when rigpa and yeshe are not distracted, and you settle in a state without grasping, you will see the pure self-appearance of yeshe, and the confused appearances of ignorance will be reversed.' And: 'On the victory banner that never falls, the lamp that never changes is clear. In the wisdom without thought, the five lights that neither brighten nor dim are clear.' And: 'The precious jewel nectar cannot be found by doing and meditating. On the appearance of the lamp of space, contemplate without distraction, without clear grasping. If you do not stray from the meaning in this way, it is the lamp of precious jewel nectar. Without letting go or settling, it is the best of attainments. Without grasping, it is liberated in its own place.' The second is as it says in 'Drastic Transformation': 'The key point of the body is in the posture. The way of settling of yeshe is in the states. Bindu is accomplished by gathering and stirring. Light is raising and gathering. Binding with connection is the key point of wind. The action of entering is separated by the edge. The action of transforming that is exhausted by wind. It is combined with the arrangement of confusion. The key point of rigpa is in releasing, gathering and entrusting to space. The key point of space is in gathering, attracting and combining the spreading upwards of the elements. The key point of appearance is in increasing and decreasing. The various are liberated in their own place.' That is to say, when you see the form, look without changing that complete key point posture. When yeshe appears as a hearth, etc., do not change the way of settling. If the bindu does not increase,
