The very nature of cause is primordially pure. The basis, becoming Dharmakaya, naturally arises. The lineage of births is cut off at its root. The intention of wish-fulfillment is primordially present. The moving aspects are naturally abiding. Breath is primordially ceased. Birth and death are not originally existent. The qualities of desire are primordially complete. The limit of attachment is meditation itself. Limbs unmoving, primordially gone beyond. The path of going is primordially traversed. The speech spoken is inexpressible. Primordially beyond the realm of speech and thought. The arising and gathering of thought is primordially empty. Primordially abiding in great meditation. Defilements are naturally pure. Abiding in the great state of stainless transparency. Because there is no place of arising from action, from the very beginning, free from doing and being done. Because there is no dharma arising from other from the ground, originally self-arisen, the only one. The count of one and two is exhausted. The bindu is indeed separate from the moon. Darkness is originally completely pure. The appearance of awareness pervades as clear light. Samsara, unchangeable, is already stopped. Primordially spontaneously perfected, the place of Buddhahood. The object of signs is empty and clear. The mind of self-grasping is primordially exhausted. Conditions are self-liberated by conditions. All dependencies are completely abandoned. Thus it is said. Secondly, in the Exceeding Measure it says: The limit of the Great Perfection of Naturalness, all dharmas abide in their own place. Appearance and awareness, the union of Dharmata, primordially liberated, abiding in itself is the ultimate. Intention beyond intellect, and the self-purification of what is with signs, and the liberation from the limits of emptiness and entity, and the cessation of movement, without conceptualization, and the cessation of intellect, beyond mind. Thus it is said. In the former it says: The five elements themselves are primordially clear, appearances are liberated as clear light itself. The five faculties themselves are kept still, the five objects of grasping are liberated in their own place. Thus it is said. Thirdly, in the Exceeding Measure it says: What is called the liberation of one's own mind, it does not go from one place to another. The mind that is not liberated by anyone, because it is originally complete, there is no coming and going. It is not found by examination, there is no reason. Because there is no root, it abides in emptiness and clarity. That mind abiding in self-clarity, is liberated by the key point, so there is no bias. Liberated by time, so there is no dependence. Effortlessly liberated, so there is no diligence. Confidently liberated, so there is no effort. To this is explained confident liberation. Primordially liberated, so there is no basis for repetition. Liberated by itself, so there is no antidote. Torn apart by staring, so even in the place of seeing, it is completely liberated.

Without effort. Thus it is said. Furthermore, since the three doors are primordially liberated, there is no need to liberate through initial effort. Without needing any actions such as changing mudras with the body, liberation occurs through the essential point of its own nature, thus there is no returning to the six realms. Without needing to exert effort in reciting mantras with the mouth, liberation occurs through clear and pure expression, thus whatever is spoken is liberated through the essential point of sound and meaning. Without needing to exert effort in meditating on samadhi with the mind, whatever is thought is liberated through the essential point of intention, since it does not come from elsewhere, it is self-liberation, and there is no possibility of an antidote. Thus, the essential point of self-liberation is that it has no antidote. As for what is called liberation, there are many types such as liberation through merely abiding, liberation at the essential point through merely knowing, as well as primordial liberation, self-liberation, sudden liberation, complete liberation, etc. However, this is great self-liberation, and because it has no antidote, it is taught that there is no need for effort. Third, there are three aspects to explaining the meaning of self-liberation in detail: briefly stating the essence, individually explaining the nature, and summarizing the meaning. First, as it says in the "String of Pearls": "In the unobstructed awareness, there is no cause for confusion, so there is no place to return. Because it is primordial liberation, it is completely superior. Because it is self-liberation, objective conditions are exhausted. Because it is sudden liberation, appearances are purified. Because it is boundary liberation, the four extremes cease. Because it is one liberation, the many are emptiness." Thus, the unobstructed awareness that is without duality of inner and outer, like a naked, stainless crystal ball. Because of the essential point of having no basis, there is now no cause for confusion, so there is no path for the awareness that is separated from the root. Because there is no path, there is now no place to return to the three realms of result, as the intention that is primordially liberated, like the sky, is spontaneously accomplished. Therefore, possessing the five great ways of liberation, it is the essential point that is superior to all common vehicles. Second, there are five: the nature of primordial liberation, self-liberation, sudden liberation, boundary liberation, and one liberation are explained in detail. First, primordial liberation, again relying on the essential point of having no basis, it is shown that it does not depend on view, meditation, or effort. It is the all-pervading wisdom, which generally means without action or fabrication. It did not come from anywhere, it did not go anywhere, it does not abide anywhere, it is the meaning of being without change. Liberation is not like untying, so there is no need for the effort of view and meditation. Liberation is its own nature.
