Thus, in the end, the mandala as the basis and the four categories of Dharma were spoken of. In the Glorious Mountain of Accumulation Tantra, it says: "In order to become accustomed to the essential points of direct perception, the essential points are distinguished by the four categories." Thus. The four categories of Dharma also determine the completion of the path. Externally, they exhaust the appearance of the four gross elements; internally, they exhaust the increase of the four times; secretly, they exhaust the changes of the four seasons; and supremely, they empty the basis of the four, body, speech, mind, and heart, and therefore are determined as four. Furthermore, externally, they show the determination of the four empowerments; internally, they expand the channels of the four chakras; secretly, they make the four wisdoms actually clear; and supremely, considering the showing of the increase of the four lamps, the four categories of Dharma are spoken of. If there are more than that, it will become chaotic and unnecessary; if there are fewer than that, it will be without foundation and the fruit of the desired meaning will not ripen, and therefore the four categories of Dharma arise in consideration of necessity. First, the essential points of body and speech are: In the Secret Conduct Seed Tantra, it says: "Having thus gone before, in order to observe the meaning of direct perception, body, speech, and mind must be well subdued." Therefore, there are three points to this: the body abiding in the posture of the three bodies, the speech not speaking anything like a mute, and the mind cutting off the collection of scattered thoughts. The first point is: In the same tantra, it says: "The body is like a lion, like a sage and an elephant. If you do not move from these postures, then you will be equal to the three thousand Buddhas, and you will have the same fortune." And, in the Garland of Pearls, it says: "The essential points of the body are of three kinds, namely, the posture of a lion, the posture of an elephant, and abiding like a sage." Therefore, here, just as the three bodies are different in their opposites, one body also has three different postures. First, the posture of the Nirmanakaya is: For example, like a sage sitting cross-legged, the two ankles touching each other is the essential point of causing the connection of skillful means and wisdom, the two soles of the feet touching the ground is the essential point of suppressing the two grasping and apprehending karmic winds, the knees touching the chest is the essential point of calming the elements of the body, the body being upright is the essential point of the breath naturally slowing down because the channels are not crooked, the hands being crossed is the essential point of mixing emptiness and wisdom, and the neck being upright is the essential point of sending the breath upwards and making oneself clear. In the Ornament of Clear Realization, the Nirmana-

The posture of the Nirmanakaya Buddha is: Relying on an upright sitting posture, the Dharmata appears as its own manifestation, and one can see with the eye of Dharma. Thus it is said. The definition is: Manifestation means that all kinds of actions, such as arising in the body, are completely manifested and purified. That purification then matures into an illusory body. Sitting means that the dwelling place relies on the continuum, and the posture is that relying on that, one does not regress in the three realms. In the Garuda of Gold it is said: The collection of the body is purified, the very posture of the Nirmanakaya Buddha, whoever knows it should follow this key, and can be liberated from it and become a Buddha. Thus it is said. The posture of the Sambhogakaya Buddha is: Like an elephant lying down, lying face down is the key to suppressing the Dharma of the body's collection, the knees and chest touching each other is the key to lowering the warmth that arises, the toes extending outward is the key to grasping the moving karma wind, the elbows propped on the ground is the key to drawing awareness into the Dharmadhatu, the neck raised upwards is the key to the non-separation of awareness and Dharmadhatu. In the Abhisamayalankara it is said: The posture of the Sambhogakaya Buddha is, relying on an elephant lying down, enjoying all Dharmata, one can see with the lotus eye. Thus it is said. In the definition, enjoyment is purifying the five desires, entering the path of the unborn Dharmata, and using the eye faculty to enjoy the key to the manifest Dharmata. Perfection is the method of liberating the Dharma of the body's collection into luminosity. The Kaya is that which matures and is liberated from Samsara. Following this key, that person constantly enjoys the manifest Dharmata, therefore it is called the Sambhogakaya. Sitting is making the Samadhi abide. The posture is the key to transcending the three realms. In the Garuda of Gold it is said: In order to enjoy the Dharmadhatu of Dharma, following the posture of the Sambhogakaya Buddha, with this one enjoys the three Kayas' Pure Lands, therefore the most important thing is the key to the body, the chief of the Great Yoga. Thus it is said. The posture of the Dharmakaya Buddha is: Like a lion entering its den, placing both soles of the feet on the ground is the key to balancing the arising warmth, sitting upright with the body erect is the action of the wisdom wind, the karma wind.
