and be able to tell others, not deviating from practicing as the guru's mind intends. The Great Samaya Tantra says: How, with the guru's activity, with body, speech, and mind, with a person who respects the supreme guru, one will become a Vajra Holder. It also says: A faithful person who desires accomplishment arises from pleasing the guru. If the guru is not pleased, one will always wander through the edges of samsara. Therefore, at the time of empowerment, offering wealth, holding celebrations, etc., please the guru, and also please the Vajra brothers and sisters and other beings. By doing so, one will enter the samaya of secret mantra and become a special support for the entry of blessings, as it is said: Great compassion, great celebration. Thus, one should protect the order of vows of relying on empowerment as previously shown. Second, establishing the ripening as the liberating path in the form of key instructions, there are two: the connection of the general key instructions and the actual practice. First, if all the ways of establishing the combined key instructions are summarized, there are three: establishing in the manner of guidance, establishing in the manner of introduction, and establishing in the manner of questioning the guest. The former includes the latter two, the establishment of direct introduction is Trekchö Tögal, and the establishment in the manner of questioning is the key instruction of Bardo. Second, the actual practice is divided into the order of preliminary practices and main practices. First, there are two: the necessity of preliminary practices and the actual preliminary practices. The first has three: Preliminary practices are like going on a dangerous road, first hiding from fear and then going on the road with peace of mind, making the main practice without fear and shyness. Preliminary practices are like digging trenches and making defenses in a border village, becoming strong, and no one can find a flaw. By doing the main practice in this way, the people inside are at ease and fearless, so it is certain that there are two: preliminary practices and main practices. Preliminary practices are like a good escort of fear, and the main practice is like having substance in oneself and finally completing it. Therefore, without preliminary practices, special main practices cannot arise.

Even if there are key points, it is like not being able to walk on a fearful path without a guide. Because without the key points of the main practice, even if you use the preliminary instructions, the result will not arise. Therefore, the accomplishment of meaning through the union of these two is like the accomplishment of worldly activities such as farming through the union of male and female. Second, regarding the actual preliminary practice, there are five aspects: for whom to go before, what the preliminary practice is like, what kind of analogy it is, the necessity of the preliminary practice, and the detailed classification. First, for whom to go before? It is to go before the transcendent, because this method leads to the state beyond suffering. Moreover, if the attachment to the three doors of body, speech, and mind is not released, one cannot escape from samsara. Therefore, by liberating from the bonds of body, speech, and mind, one will surely be liberated from existence, so this is the sacred preliminary practice of transcendence. Second, what is the preliminary practice like? The term "preliminary" is used because it liberates one from the sins of body, speech, and mind accumulated from countless eons. The term "to" is used because it purifies the karma and imprints of hundreds of thousands of living beings (such as insects) residing in the body during the times of formation and existence, and also purifies the impure sounds of speech, and also purifies the impure movements of mind of the four hundred thousand insects residing within the bodies of sentient beings, so it is called "preliminary to." The term "going" is used because one must learn this instruction before or at the beginning of the main practice, and because the previous action effortlessly gives rise to the meaning of the main practice, it also leads one to nirvana, so it is called "going." Third, the analogy is like a king endowed with merit, who, if urged by others, has no choice but to go before doing anything; or like a good horse, adorned with equipment before going, being urged to go, this is the preliminary practice before the main practice. Fourth, the necessity is that the main practice is easy to master, easy to arise, convincing, and without obstacles. Fifth, the classification is threefold: leading the three kayas, learning the yoga of the four elements; leading wisdom, learning the conduct of distinguishing samsara and nirvana; leading the mind, learning the nature of body, speech, and mind. The first is, transference of consciousness (Tibetan: ཐལ་འགྱུར).
