In short, among appearance and emptiness, the key to transforming appearance lies in relying on the manifestation of the deity's form in a mirror, transforming all appearances into the mandala of the deity, transforming them into the pure land of the Buddha, and transforming them into the eight similes of illusion. All of these should be done with strong intention. Transforming into emptiness is like the clearing of clouds in the sky or the dissipation of smoke. Instantly visualize this illusory appearance as emptiness, vast and boundless. In this way, it will transform similarly in dreams as well. Severing dreams means that in the very moment of appearance, do not cling to the knowing awareness in the space in between, nor cling to the image of appearance in the awareness. Do not corrupt it with thoughts related to appearance and mind, but rather relax the self-illuminating awareness into the clear and vast expanse, without thinking of anything. By doing so, first the dreams become coarse, then subtle, then forgetful, then they become less and less, and finally one does not dream at all. Instead, one uses the self-illuminating samadhi of awareness for the meaning of the blending of day and night. Such practice is called the blending of day and night. Secondly, regarding the key points of method and object, there are three: stirring, condensing, and casting into the key point. The first is the key to mastering and becoming proficient in dream practice, for those who have not yet mastered or become proficient. That is, by mutually reversing and stirring what is being practiced, and practicing casually, it is easier to become proficient. That is, placing the winds and mind in the positions of the four chakras is also accomplished by reversing the order. Condensing means that the essential posture of the body is the lion's posture, condensing the channels, and hiding the mind in the throat, thus condensing the object. By lying down without being distracted by other thoughts, one condenses the dream. Casting into the key point means that with strong intention, the oral instruction hits the key point. When sleeping, visualize a red A (Tibetan: ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal Chinese meaning: A) in the center of the throat, in the middle of the four petals of a white lotus, with the pulse filling like waves. Sleep in this state. This is the key to the arising of dreams, and there is nothing deeper than this. That is, the combination of practice, stirring, transformation, condensation, severance, and casting into the key point is most precious. From the perspective of the chakra positions, although stirring, condensing, and casting into the key point are discussed, here, through experience, it is proven that this key is the most important. Thirdly, the key to binding the channels and winds is the most precious companion at all times of dreaming, which is to insert the bindu of wind into the net.

The key point is: During the lion's posture of sleeping, breathe slowly, visualizing all appearances, existence, samsara, and nirvana dissolving from your nostrils into the wheel of mindfulness. Inhale the breath, and as the drop descends from (HAṂ, Devanagari: हं, Romanized Sanskrit: haṃ, Literal meaning: HUNG) from the crown of your head, visualize all appearances in a state of bliss, focusing on what is clear and bright like a reflection in a mirror in your heart, and practice repeatedly. Reverse all appearances upwards to the throat chakra, focusing on becoming a single red (A, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A). Holding the breath and essence in the throat and falling asleep is the great secret of this practice. By binding the key point in this way, dreams and habitual tendencies will eventually be exhausted, and delusion will be awakened. At this time, for the superior diligent practitioner, even if all the focus is not complete, it is possible to cut off dreams; the intermediate practitioner can quickly grasp dreams; and the inferior practitioner will transform into virtuous habitual tendencies and eventually cut them off. These also go from initially having many dreams to eventually having fewer. For the superior diligent practitioner, from the beginning, there will be forgetful dreams, like a goat; for the intermediate practitioner, dreams are very clear; and for the inferior practitioner, there will be many unclear dreams. Those are also initially grasped, in the middle transformed into virtue, and eventually dreams are exhausted, and when sleep turns into luminosity, it is called dreams awakening into luminosity. Those also come from the *Transformation Sutra*: The path of key points for dreams is, first, to bring the bird's power down to the key point, first practice body, speech, and mind, relying on the signs of mastery, be sure to grasp observation and suppression, and the three habitual tendencies. Then, when arriving at the key point, practice and transform and cut off, stir and contract and abandon at the key point, by making inhalation and reversal the key point of action, the dreams of action will eventually be exhausted, and habitual delusions will be uprooted. At this time, relying on one's own diligence, the superior practitioner cuts off, the intermediate practitioner knows, and the inferior practitioner is certain to transform. These dreams initially increase, the superior practitioner is forgetful, the inferior practitioner stops, the intermediate practitioner is very clear, and it should be known as the inferior practitioner. The inferior practitioner is unclear, and then transforms, those all reach the extent. Thus it is said. The key point of dreams is the instruction for transforming ignorance into luminosity, from that very text: Whoever meditates on the yoga of sleep, this can transform ignorance into the path. Thus it is said. The third illusory body is to make appearances and existence into the yoga of illusion, for this during the daytime.
