The light of the six realms. The objects of each appear. Thus it is. Fifth, the boundaries are four: The boundary of the bardo of inherent existence is from the time of leaving the mother's womb until the final affliction by the disease of death. From then until the breath ceases completely is the bardo of the death throes. From the cessation of the inner breath until the appearance of the clear light and the spontaneously arisen appearances is the bardo of dharmata. From the time the spontaneously arisen appearances fade and appear like a dream until entering the mother's womb is the boundary of the bardo of existence. Moreover, at the time of death, the instructions that symbolize the ultimate recognition are called the instructions for applying the "nest expulsion" to the guest. Furthermore, the time of death is when the guest enters the path, and the suffering of death is great. If the various appearances on that path are not recognized as self-appearances, there will be a nest for rising up against the enemy; if they are recognized, there will be a nest for appearing as a friend. Therefore, applying it in the expulsion at the time of death is called the instruction for applying the "nest expulsion," and this example and meaning are appropriate. These are the general classifications of the bardo, and there is a need for easy differentiation. Second, elaborating on the individual natures, there are four: The bardo of inherent existence is like the instruction of deciding among knowable things, like a bird entering its nest; the bardo of the death throes is like the instruction of clarifying what is unclear, like looking in a mirror; the bardo of dharmata is like the instruction of trusting in self-appearances, like meeting a familiar person from the past or a child entering its mother's lap; the bardo of existence is like the instruction of continuing the momentum of karma, like a fox entering a break in a dam. First, before a bird builds its nest, it examines whether harmful enemies are present or not, and once it is determined that there is no harm and the nest is built, later whenever it enters the nest, it does not need to cut off feathers, and it enters without doubt or obstruction. Similarly, the yogi also, first examines which method is deepest and which key point is most important for desiring liberation from samsara, and then abandons the teachings that he does not trust, that are not yet decided, that are entered with doubt, or that have not yet reached the peak. First, he trains his mind through listening, in the middle he decides through contemplation, and finally he repeats and practices through meditation, making his mind comfortable, which is like building a nest. Like entering a nest, he integrates the meanings into it, and enters without fear or anxiety at the time of death. The meaning of these in detail

As previously stated, here is a brief explanation of the practice. When looking at external appearances, the field of appearance is seen as a wheel of illusion. When it is seen as merely the self-nature of baseless emptiness, all phenomena that appear in various forms naturally appear in the mirror of view, meditation, and action, because it is the self-power of the unobstructed play of dharmata. These phenomena in general, like a variegated felt covering a house, when looking at the whole of the appearance of various things such as white and red, when all that appears, arises, and is heard is seen as the play of self-liberated emptiness, without any acceptance or rejection, addition or subtraction, the appearance is liberated from where it appears, confusion is liberated in the baseless, appearing only as the pinnacle of illusion, thereby liberating from the cycle of clinging to external objects. Fragments of phenomena, such as mountains, houses, handsome men, women, etc., first divide whatever appears in the field of appearance into fragments, and then magnify and rest in the place where it appears. Great wisdom does not engage in judgment, appearance is not transformed by the mind, the mind is not stolen by appearance, but remains still in its own place. The six consciousnesses are not blocked, but remain in their own state, so that the appearance of dharmata naturally and fluently unfolds. Thus, when looking at external phenomena, when it is known as the self-nature of emptiness without a place, the object of grasping is purified like the sky without a place, therefore it is called the realization of the object of grasping as without self-nature. Thus, when looking at the knowing of the external viewer, the movement vanishes into emptiness, clearing away without distinction, when realizing in the utterly clear, without anything to clear, self-illuminating, internally realizing dharmata as the great without birth, cessation, or abiding. The grasper dissolves into its own clarity in a state of being without support, like the sky. Without support, it is utterly so. Transparent, it is naked. Without truth, it is empty. Without root, it is relaxed. Abiding in the state of great equality of dharmata, when resting with a joyful smile, there is a need for the internal grasper to be freed from the fetters of the mind. Thus, when realizing that object and mind are baseless and rootless, the secret is self-awareness, going into the nakedness of the grasper and the grasped, free from elaboration. When the master introduces the self-illuminating, primordially pure, great, with the oral instructions, and meditates with the four lamps in the state of luminosity where the sphere and wisdom are inseparable, the five lights of the appearance of the self-sound of the external sphere are clear like the image in a mirror. Although the external appearance appears outward, the essence abides within. Knowing that appearance and emptiness are like the image of the moon in water, one does not develop attachment of joy or aversion to appearance.
