The field appears vast and empty. Without touching, without obstruction to the ground. The power of speech is complete, the essence of words is exhausted. The mind is able to transfer. Eyes and forms, nose and tongue. All the senses of the body are exhausted. Becoming the measure of no self-nature. Thus it is said. Third, by explaining the differences of other signs, to properly grasp the measures of the path, there are three: generally showing the signs of attaining non-birth, specifically explaining the signs of qualities, and separately stating the differences of the three signs mixed together. First, for the yogi who has confidence in the realization of primordial purity (Ka-dag), as a sign that he will not take birth in existence later, there are two: no living beings on the body, and no growth of hair and nails. Then, in three months, others can see that in the center of the five lights, he transforms into the body of the five families, rises into the sky and disappears. From the Intermediate State of the Body Relic: Whoever has cut off non-birth from the root, such signs will also appear in that person. Whoever possesses this sign is equal in fortune to me. On the body, insects, lice, etc., all these streams of birth are cut off, and whoever's hair and nails, all these do not grow and the stream is exhausted, this is the sign of non-birth. Having possessed such signs, even in three months, this is self-existing in the elements, the contaminated aggregates do not appear, the body itself transforms in the center of the light, together with the family. Thus it is said. This is the great fortunate yogi of the time of exhaustion. Second, praising its qualities, the qualities of the manifested body and speech, and the immeasurable qualities of the emptiness of non-existent awareness, in the self-manifested Buddha-field, enjoying the mandala of the two peaceful and wrathful ones and the qualities of the Dharma-body. From that very text: Such a realized person, the qualities of existence and non-existence are inconceivable, the wisdom abiding in oneness, self-revealing and self-proving is the great teacher, the effortless, spontaneous light abides in itself, from the nature of skillful means and wisdom, the Buddha's lineage also appears as two, all these appear as its retinue, from the basis of manifestation without self-nature, it appears as the Dharma that cannot be spoken or thought, in the equality of the three times, originally all these abide in themselves. Thus it is said. Third, among those who have only one sign, and those who have two mixed, and those who have three, if the body sign is complete, then in the bardo.

Liberation! The two, body and speech, exist in whatever way, the body having the sign of speech, is liberated in the realm of manifestation. If the sign of mind is complete, one is liberated in the bardo in three instants. If all three are complete, one benefits others with compassion. Because one knows for sure that one will attain one's own benefit, one is blessed countless times, and on that support where one has accomplished the purpose, one is liberated into light. If one has the two signs of body and mind, one will quickly attain one's own benefit and be liberated. The gathering of the signs of speech and mind, one attains the light body in ten years. Furthermore, the gathering of the signs of body, speech, and mind, those supports that do not benefit others, are liberated in two years. As it says in that very text: Whoever is a diligent person, when the sign of the body is complete, in the nature of the bardo, seeing the truth, attains Buddhahood. Having the sign of speech on the body, this is in the realm of manifestation, one lifetime is enough to accomplish it by exhaling breath. Whoever is endowed with the sign on the mind, this is in the activity of life, without the interval of two births, like meteors in the sky, in the manner of passing, in three instants, even with the manifestation, one's own essence dissolves into its own nature. When the signs of body, speech, and mind are gathered, this is the great Bodhicitta, having compassion that holds beings. Because he holds beings, for hundreds of millions of years, even with just one human body, having completely accomplished this purpose, without entering between two births, he also attains complete and perfect enlightenment. Or, whoever is fortunate, having the signs of body and mind, having it like this, in ten years, the elements dissolve into their own place, appearance itself becomes non-appearance, and is carried to the place of pure Dharma nature. Whoever has the signs of body, speech, and mind, like this fortunate person, whoever gathers these fortunate signs, even in two years from now, this person's elements will dissolve into their own, there is no doubt about this change. Thus it is said. Moreover, without the distinction of outer and inner signs, even if there are only some signs, they are uncertain signs, therefore one will not be liberated. Those with definite outer and inner signs will have that degree of liberation. Like this, merely having signs does not pervade liberation, having signs pervades liberation, therefore this particular point is very important. In the burning of the corpse it says: All the signs of body, speech, and mind.
