That is, for those on the ground, the Sambhogakaya appears, for those who are not pure, the supreme Nirmanakaya appears, and for those who are extremely impure, they emanate into beings that correspond to their respective realms, benefiting each sentient being. As it says in that very text: "The Nirmanakaya that performs actions, shows it to whomever it tames. To those who appear to be in harmony with others, it is like the one above. Not confused about benefiting others, it can also be transformed into anything. To those who appear to be in harmony with others, it subdues beings. Afflictions are naturally absent, and habitual patterns appear like a body. To sentient beings who are ripe, it shows the great true meaning. To whatever beings it tames, it appears in harmony with them." So it is. That Nirmanakaya also accomplishes the benefit of beings with the four separate correct awarenesses. With the separate correct awareness of all languages, it teaches the Dharma in their own languages. Moreover, by knowing the faculties and latent tendencies, it teaches in accordance with their thoughts. Furthermore, it teaches in many ways, such as the Great Vehicle, the Small Vehicle, various vehicles, and in the Secret Mantra, the generation and completion stages, individual practices, mind, wisdom, Alaya, and the Alaya as the Dharmakaya. However, the Great Perfection of Naturalness appears to only a few fortunate ones when the time is right, not to everyone. As it says in the Self-Arisen: "Knowing all languages, it teaches in whatever language it is. By harmony, it gathers in harmony. To some, it teaches through the door of words. To some, it teaches through the door of dependent origination. To some, it teaches through the door of aspiration and entry. To some, it teaches through the door of generation. To some, it teaches through the door of both. To some, it teaches with the five enlightenments. To some, it teaches with the three samadhis. To some, it teaches the realm and wisdom. The meaning of Dzogchen is not a place of contradiction. It appears to some fortunate individuals. That is also the way of teaching, to some it teaches awareness as emptiness, to some it teaches non-awareness as emptiness, to some it teaches non-awareness as inanimate, to some it teaches awareness alone, to some it teaches Alaya as Dharmakaya, to some it teaches no good and no evil, to some it teaches as having meditation, to some it teaches as not having meditation. Thus, the Nirmanakaya that teaches, the meaning of the unsurpassed Secret Mantra, has not been spoken to a few. What has not been spoken will not be spoken. Even if it is spoken at the appropriate time, the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, Sutras, and the Lower Vehicle

In that namelessness, the unsurpassed vehicle will be proclaimed. Therefore, keep it secret from those of inferior intellect. Those individuals who possess these qualities are considered to be emanations who perform actions. Thus it is said. Although the Great Perfection may arise, this unsurpassed Heart Drop, from below the Mind Sphere and the extremely secret sections of the Oral Instructions, does not originate from the broad worldly path, and therefore it should be recognized as an extremely rare category of Dharma. Therefore, it should be cherished and treasured like a jewel. As stated in the Uttaratantra: Because it is rare in occurrence, because it is stainless, because it possesses power, and because it is the ornament of the world, it is indeed a precious jewel. Fifth, the method of examining an emanation body is: ordinary beings teach the Dharma with benefit and happiness to sentient beings, and the emanations of the Buddhas accomplish the benefit of others, the two appear to be similar. Therefore, the definitive examination of this is: From the Rangshar: The method of examining an emanation should be known as follows: At the time of passing away, the eyes do not wander elsewhere; at the demon hole of the nape, there is a single tuft of hair coiled to the right; in the heart, there is the form of a vajra; the place of birth is in royal families or those of high lineage. Whatever the conduct, it is practiced in a similar manner. Whatever is said, it is followed accordingly. One's own desires are not fulfilled. Effort and attachment are naturally absent. The desires of any sentient being are relieved. One who possesses these qualities should be known to be an emanation body. Thus it is said. Even if these signs are present, it only indicates that it is an emanation, and in other various situations, it is uncertain whether it is an emanation or not. Therefore, one should strive to generate pure bodhicitta and tame one's own mindstream. Second, the detailed explanation of the categories of the five kayas is divided into five: essence, definition, appearance, division, and application of meaning. First, the essence is: the splendor of complete marks and signs, blazing brilliantly. As the Rangshar says: The essence is endowed with marks and signs, the nature holds its own name separately. Thus it is said. Second, the definition is: because it appears as the bodies of five different families, it is called the body of the five families. As it says in the same text: The appearance is great wisdom, the definition of the families is just like that. Thus it is said. Third, the appearance is: appearing as the bodies and wisdom of father and mother Buddhas. As the Rangshar says: The appearance of the five kayas of wisdom is: the two fathers and mothers.
