It is unseen due to being obscured. If a diligent person meditates on the four appearances to the fullest extent, they will be as they are now, and will temporarily appear as the pure self-appearance in the bardo. Now, it is like being tightly wrapped in a garuda egg, obscured by the increase of habitual patterns. As it says in the Tantra of the Great Perfection of the Lion's Roar: In the self-nature of all sentient beings, The appearance of pure wisdom abides. Unable to appear vastly, Like a womb and an eggshell, Although obscured and not manifest, Like emerging from complete self-power, As soon as this body of conceptual thought is abandoned, Self-appearance will meet with the realm. The self-awareness that has always been present, Its essence, non-thought, will be seen. The appearance of pure wisdom, And the truth of the Buddhas will be seen. The essence of the self-appearance of wisdom, Is the absence of mental conceptualization. The past realm and the future realm, The appearances are directly cut off. The self-appearance of great wisdom, Although not in the manifest realm, There is a self-arisen lamp to indicate. The wisdom of the lamp itself, Transcends the limits of appearance and non-appearance. So it is. Furthermore, that great wisdom, in the palace of the pure light channel in the center of the heart, abides as the essence body, complete with the marks and signs of the five lights. Because it abides in the nature of light, the appearances of the five wisdoms are immeasurable. Because compassion abides in awareness, knowledge is clear within. Its radiance shines in the conch palace, so the entire mandala of wrathful deities abides greatly. The radiance that appears as light, rays, bindus, and subtle bindus abides naturally like the great channels that branch out from the light channel of the heart. In the eyes, it abides in the form of four lamps. That is, in the heart (Sanskrit: Citta, Devanagari: चित्त, Romanization: citta, Literal meaning: heart) is the body, in the four channels are the bindus, in the conch palace are the rays, and in the eye, that is, in the brow (Sanskrit: bhri-kuti, Devanagari: भ्रुकुटि, Romanization: bhri-kuti, Literal meaning: brow), abides the appearance of the vajra chain. As it says in the Lion's Roar: Emaho, the wisdom of awareness, In all Buddhas and sentient beings, Abides in an unchanging form. The way it abides is as follows: The heart is a precious palace, The palace of the precious channels, The palace of the pure conch, The palace of the brow, In those vast palaces, The essence of awareness appears like power. Its explanation is as follows: In some it abides as the body, In some it is the bindu, In one it abides in the form of rays, In one it is the vajra chain.

arise. Therefore, it explains the sutra of abiding. The meaning of the Buddha's inherent abiding is that it abides in all sentient beings, which the Victorious Ones thoroughly explain. Thus it is. Furthermore, regarding the meaning of body, lineage, realm, and wisdom, from that very source: The appearance of knowledge and ignorance, transcends the extremes of both action and agent. The very nature of vastness, radiates like a body. The very nature of clarity, arises like light. The very nature of emptiness, radiates like rays. The very nature of Buddhahood and sentient beings, are not separate awarenesses, but are shown to be separate appearances. The characteristics of the body are as follows: unchanging, clear, empty, and free from conceptualization. The characteristics of awareness are as follows: subtle, radiant, lineage, and moving. The characteristics of the realm are as follows: vast, abundant, empty, and limitless. Clear, warm, cool, and holding the nature of lightness, softness, and movement. Pervasive and surrounding. The characteristics of wisdom are as follows: arising, entering, and self-illuminating. Primordial, knowing, and realization. Clear, radiant, and boundless nature. Appearance, darkness, and enlightenment. The supreme wisdom of emptiness and clarity, is considered to be the characteristic of secret mantra. Thus it is. Therefore, the body is in the heart, wisdom is in the brow, awareness is in the Brahmarandra, and the light and bindu of the realm appear in the four channels. The four channels are from the Self-Arisen: The white, soft, empty channels, the precious radiant channels, the great channel that liberates, and the clear crystal flowing channels. The wind of consciousness rides upon them, from the great door of the Brahmarandra, dissolving into the state of spontaneously arising emptiness. Without a dissolver, clear and distinct. The five aggregates are complete, and wisdom is perfect. Such wisdom abides clearly in the great channel of the heart, abiding in the self-nature of self-luminous wisdom. In the four channels, relying on the self-nature of the five wisdoms, from the four lamps within the eyes, how wisdom ripens into the lamp of empty bindu and the lamp of pure realm. How much wisdom ripens into the lamp of far-reaching water and the lamp of self-arisen wisdom, from the Compendium Tantra: At the time of the body, like this, in the palace of the precious mind, in the aggregates of assembled elements, the part of the essence that is pure from the beginning, the union of emptiness and clarity is the nature of the body.
