There are three ways of liberation: the way of instantaneous liberation upon seeing the ground appearance; the way of abiding in the expanse after liberation; and the way of benefiting others from that. The first is: From the initial expanse, the inner sound emerges outward. Compassionate awareness, like a sprout born from ignorance, turns its face towards the ground appearance. In the instant of recognizing that it is one's own appearance, ignorance is self-purified, and the spontaneous manifestation of the ground appearance naturally dissolves into the ground of original purity. Also, by distinguishing self-appearance in an instant, one becomes a Buddha in an instant, appearing as a primordial teacher. As it says in the *Prasaṅgika*: "Thus, in the beginning and end of samsara and nirvana, the Buddha is not mistaken in arising. By the power of the exalted one from the ground, one knows that self-appearance is without inherent nature. Conceptual thoughts and minds do not flow outwards. Movement is self-determined." Also, as it says in the *Gongpa Kadro Gyü*: "At that time, the six dharmas of Kuntuzangpo destroy the six ignorances of the ground consciousness. In a moment, the mind is slightly empty. When awareness arises slightly, awareness diminishes and vanishes. When it is clear and bright, darkness disappears. When it arises vividly, there is no dimness. Free from imputation, ignorance is purified. Unchanging, it is like the sky. Vajrasattva, listen! By destroying the delusion of ignorance, the unmentioned nature is self-lost and empty. By separating the inanimate and the animate, one meets the ground. Therefore, the darkness of ignorance disappears, like the sun rising on Mount Potala." Also, as it says in the *Rangjung Dewa Khorlo Gyü*: "In a moment, awareness arises. When it is vividly clear, it is free from imputation." Also, as it says in the *Gyu Trul*: "In one instant, distinctions are made. In one instant, perfect enlightenment is attained." That is to say, Kuntuzangpo did not do even a particle of good, but became a Buddha from the ground itself. But if one examines it, recognizing one's own nature is an ocean of uncontaminated, self-born merit. Therefore, the great accumulation is perfectly complete, and the unmentioned ignorance is cleared away. At the time of 'Yeh', obstacles are destroyed. Because one recognizes it as self-appearance, ignorance is cleared away. When that is cleared away, all afflictions are cleared away, because it arises from the clearing away of ignorance. At that moment, the qualities of one's own place become manifest, and thus one becomes a Buddha in body and wisdom. Saying that one is liberated from the ground is emphasized, because one is liberated when the ground appears as the ground appearance. Therefore, one is liberated in the instant of surpassing the ground.

Where is liberation achieved? To say it is liberated on the ground is also crude; ultimately, it is liberated on the ground of perfect spontaneous accomplishment. Even if liberation is achieved on the ground, it can still regress, because that ground is established from the perspective of being able to produce confusion, because it is the ground of samsara and nirvana. The very place of liberation is the beginning, so is the ground not the beginning? Answer: It is said to be the beginning in terms of the nature of reality, but it is not the original ground. In short, when one recognizes one's own nature, the qualities of the expanse are perfected, and because it is free from obscurations, it is called liberation in the fruition. Therefore, the extent to which qualities such as form and wisdom abide in the plan is called the qualities of the expanse, because they exist in awareness but are not manifest. At the time of perfection, it is called the qualities of the Buddha, because ignorance is dispelled, and the qualities that one possesses are increased by the power of awakening. Alternatively, one acknowledges the qualities of the spontaneously accomplished Buddha of the ground and the qualities of the manifestly accomplished Buddha of the fruition. Thus, the enlightenment of Samantabhadra is also six dharmas: transcending the ground, appearing as one's own nature, distinguishing the particular, liberating upon distinguishing, not arising from others, and abiding in one's own place. These are also the fruit that does not arise from causes, the Buddha that does not arise from mind, and the instructions that do not arise from scripture, but arise from oneself and become enlightened. The original ground and the appearance of the ground liberating into the fruition are done by the wisdom of realization, as it says in the Tantra of the Blazing Lamp: Wisdom is what ripens the ground itself into the fruit, by wisdom ripening into form, that Dharmakaya of essence, ripens into the wisdom Dharmakaya, thereby the continuity of wisdom is unbroken, form and wisdom are spontaneously clear. So it says. At that time, the aspect of knowable objects appearing as objects of perception, knowing in one's own nature, is the Buddha of all aspects of knowledge. Abiding clearly within one's own nature, in the state of dharmata, the cessation of the elaboration of discrimination is the Buddha of all knowledge. Although knowing everything, one's own nature does not waver from dharmata, therefore, with respect to the part of the indwelling wisdom and the outwardly gazing wisdom, due to the difference between the appearance and non-appearance of aspects, it is said to be the wisdom of all knowledge, the wisdom of all aspects of knowledge, and the wisdom of all aspects of knowledge. These two are complementary.
