Grasp. The samadhi of great expansion. In this, the four ways of abiding are combined with the stages of arising when practicing. First, the ocean abiding is shown first: Not scattering, not gathering, naturally clear and bright. The clear ocean, unwavering, is equality itself. (1) The nature of reality is deep and clear, the state of self-arisen wisdom. It abides free from hope and fear of arising and dissolving. Just as when the ocean is not moved by the wind, when the stars appear, although the stars appear, they are not moved by the water and are not stained. When awareness is thoroughly clear, even though the field of appearance is not obstructed and appears, it is not defiled by grasping, so awareness abides unwavering in the state of clarity. From the letterless, the meaning of the ocean abiding is: It is not appearance, nor is it the maker of appearance. It is not emptiness, nor does it exist in emptiness. It is not clear, but the realm of great clarity. It is not sinking, and agitation is naturally absent. It does not move, it does not move, it does not change. It does not act, it does not move, it transcends all actions. It does not arise from actions, look to the great way of abiding. Do not scatter or gather, abide in the state of one abiding. It is not abiding, nor is there transcendence from it. Secret wisdom is like an ocean. From the beginning, it is naturally abundant, rest in the unmoving realm. From the great ocean that is difficult to fathom. Look to the top of the victory banner that has no sinking. There is no empty mind, the great body of non-fabrication. Because there is no action, it overcomes all actions. From the beginning, it is unborn, the abiding of non-fabrication itself. It is not changed by appearances, it is not fabricated by the mind. When the nature of reality abides in the sky, it shows the meaning. The wisdom of the Dharmakaya, completely abandoning thoughts. If there is no movement, it is the meaning of meditation. If you do not grasp the aspects of the object. Just as the stars appear in the depths of the ocean. The clarity without grasping is not obstructed. The way of abiding of the meaning is just like that. So it is said. Here, some who are not skilled in the tantras, speaking in a foolish way, clinging to the letters that are combined with one aspect, thinking that these four ways of abiding are the abiding of direct crossing, this kind of thinking is not close to the Dharma, and does not know how to apply it to any practice. In the opening of the letterless lotus, combined with the context of the words, it is applied to one aspect. In general, it can be applied to anything. In the guidance of the appearance of jewels, all aspects.

And thus it is taught by applying it. Whether it is Trekchö or Tögal, the root is this nakedly transparent awareness, which must be known how to extract nakedly (3). If you don't understand this, it's useless no matter what you apply it to. Trekchö is mixed with the path of all ignorant meditators, and the method of holding the mind is wasted for a lifetime, so one cannot escape from samsara. Tögal, because of clinging to objects and characteristics, one will stray into the realm of form. Therefore, it is very important to recognize the nakedly transparent awareness here. It is not enough to just know this, you must gain a firm grasp. It is very important not to move from that state. As a method, many methods of placement have been taught, and first of all, one must abide in the natural state of the ocean-like stillness of mind, so it is important to master this. Regarding this, there is also a sequence of cutting off straying places. In the Prasangika, it says: The meditation of abiding without straying is when the doors of the senses are clear, the mind's thoughts are not scattered, the mind that examines awareness itself, does not stray outwards, the appearance of distinctiveness is not clear, it does not fall into nihilistic emptiness, it is not continuous bliss, it does not fall into equanimity and indifference, memory and awareness are clear and relaxed, practice goes on the path of non-deviation, grasping easily flows inwards, the grasping of clear appearance, colors, letters, and transformations, if these do not fall to any side, it is the meditation of abiding without straying. Thus it is said. The grasping of clear appearance is the act of thinking "this is this, that is that" towards external appearances. Transforming colors and letters is the grasping of conceptual thought on the inner state of mind. The others are easy to understand. Awareness like the ocean is: Without the mind that cannot be expressed in words, like a worm-eaten thing, naturally abiding, without increase or decrease, without artificiality or embellishment, The empty nature of reality is without characteristics, there is no dharma to be meditated on or to meditate, sinking and rising are natural, self-born wisdom arises. Awareness like the ocean, in Tögal, is placed on the continuous stream of bindu radiance, here it is placed on the true, transparent, and naked awareness, so the key point is very profound. When awareness is clear and abides in the state of the ocean, recognize that bright, clear, and naked state, and by not leaving it, the nature of reality without gaps and inner and outer divisions will appear as one taste. From the unwritten, awareness like the ocean is the essence of the oral instructions. This is the ultimate secret. Thus it is said.
