The body and so on are also clear appearances without existence. However they may appear, they are merely clear appearances without existence. Because there is not even a particle of self-characterized phenomena such as one and many. Know that all phenomena of existence, samsara, and nirvana appear in the face of awareness, yet are non-dual. These phenomena that arise in the face of awareness also arise from the nature of the dharmadhatu. They arise from awareness itself, and are merely labeled as manifestations of awareness. As it says in the Garland of Pearls: Earth, water, fire, wind, and space, The great elements arise from it. Gods, demigods, and humans, Hells, animals, and hungry ghosts, Arise truly from that great one. Desire, hatred, and ignorance, Pride, jealousy, and so on, Manifest from it. Ignorance, mind, and consciousness, Aggregates, elements, and sense bases, And the aggregates of consciousness, The five senses and so on arise. Sound, smell, taste, and touch, And desirable objects, Are adorned by it. Life, Yama, and the powerless, And so on, Are its power and play. The alaya and the appropriated, Flesh, blood, pus, Bones, skin, and hair, The accumulated bodies arise from it. Body, speech, and mind, And the various things that arise from the mind, All arise from my face. Men, women, horses, and cows, All forms arise from it. Eating, sleeping, and dwelling, Various actions arise from it. And as it says in the All-Creating King: O great bodhisattva, realize my nature. I am the nature of bodhicitta, Bodhicitta is the All-Creating King. The nature of the All-Creating King is body, speech, and mind. There is nothing that is not made by body, speech, and mind. The body, speech, and mind of the Buddhas of the three times are made by it. The body, speech, and mind of the beings of the three realms Are made by the body, speech, and mind of the All-Creating King. All that is contained in existence, the environment and beings, In the nature of reality that is as it is, unmade, Is made by the body, speech, and mind of the All-Creating King. And so on. At this time, one should abandon the confusion of contradictory terms and the mixing with desire. Because some who are not adorned with pure hearing and thought speak rashly, saying that the external variety

These appearances are considered to be the mind of enlightenment (bodhicitta), and the way one's own mind appears. Here, too, are shown two views that are of one essence in the realm of bodhicitta, as different as heaven and earth. Those deluded ones consider it to be the mind of enlightenment and one's own mind, while here it is considered to arise from the power of grasping as self in the nature of bodhicitta. At the very moment of arising, it is merely a play of power, and the clear appearance that is nowhere to be found, either inside or outside, is mind, and the nature of things that are not established as other than mind, is merely an appearance arising from dependent origination. These various external things are illusory appearances, without foundation, the emptiness that has never existed, and the emptiness of mind itself, are merely without any difference. We, all things encompassed by inner and outer, say that it is the one taste, the single essence of bodhicitta, and although there is no distinction from the aspect of dharmata, we do not consider the merely apparent conventional truth and one's own mind to be the same, because they are mutually contradictory in substance, and the connection of following and not following self and other, going and coming, existence and non-existence is not established, and the object of appearance and the distinct self-nature of appearance, etc., are distinguished by many differences in phenomena. It should be realized that it is not the same as the view of those deluded ones. In general, if we establish terminology, then distinguishing between inner and outer, appearance and mind, delusion and non-delusion, samsara and nirvana, etc., in conventional truth is the rule of all dharmas. If we do according to the rule of those deluded ones, it would be like mixing up a dog's jump and a fox's jump, and there would be no way to establish terminology, path, and purity and impurity. Because nothing is established in the nature of ultimate truth, it is also wrong to think that everything is mind. Because some Mind-Only proponents of true existence, or some garment-wearers of the extremist side, think that way, it is holding to one side. One should definitely not rely on that way. What is said in the Mind Section that everything is mind is not the same as your view, because everything arises from the mind of enlightenment, and it is said because it appears as a play from that power. Power, play, and the mind of enlightenment are established separately, therefore it is the determination of phenomena. The mind of enlightenment is not established anywhere, but is the basis of everything, so it is like space. That power is the unceasing way of appearing, like a mirror cleared of tarnish.
