Alas! Like the great wish-fulfilling jewel, Praying to it, all desires are spontaneously fulfilled. Ordinary things are not like that. The Vajra Essence, the three bodies spontaneously accomplished, From its own place in the expanse, Buddhahood is achieved on its own. That which is great is without effort or practice. Although the lower vehicles strive with acceptance and rejection, They will not succeed even in eons; exhaustion becomes a great disease. Praying to the wish-fulfilling jewel brings about the fulfillment of all desires, which is also the realm of those with good fortune. Likewise, realizing the spontaneous perfection of qualities in self-arisen wisdom and resting effortlessly is also the realm of the very best. Just as some people pray to wooden images of jewels, hoping that the jewel will bring about all things, but their desires are not fulfilled, so too is the desire for Buddhahood through the efforts of the lower vehicles. It is taught that there is nothing but exhaustion and toil. As it is said in the Kunje Gyalpo (All-Creating King): "The need is for all sentient beings in the three realms. When one sees one's own mind as suchness, One does not abide in the words of the Buddhas. Now, from this very moment, one attains perfect yoga. For those without merit and with little fortune, Even if shown directly, they do not understand. Like someone who desires a precious jewel, But polishing wood does not transform it. For those with good karma and fortune, who are perfect yogis, There is no view, samaya, activity, ground, or path, No bodhicitta, cause and effect, meditation, practice, or antidote." And: "Taking effort for effortless bliss, There is nothing but the disease of exhaustion." So it is. Now, from the explanation of the effortless awareness as the three bodies, the intention of the Dharmakaya as it is in itself is: From the beginning, spontaneously equal awareness, bodhicitta, As it is, self-abiding, the vastness of the nature of reality, The nature of the Dharmakaya, the equality of the primordial space, Is present in everyone, but it is the realm of only a few fortunate ones. If left as it is, it is accomplished by settling in that state. The essence of awareness, empty and clear, free from elaboration, is the meaning of Dharmakaya. Realizing the nature of mind as it is in itself is seen as the realm of a few, not the realm of all, because the nature of great equality, free from extremes, is the essence of the Vajra realm. From the Lion's Complete Power: "The Dharmakaya, non-conceptual Samantabhadri, Looking outward at the realm of the clear awareness of the nature of reality, Seeing the awareness free from variety within."
