From the nature of emptiness, form appears as arising from the unborn. At the time of appearance, there is truly no arising whatsoever. Though it appears as ceasing from the unceasing, yet there is no ceasing; it is illusory emptiness of form. At the time of abiding, there is no dharma of abiding; there is no abider, no basis, no state of coming and going. As it appears, so it is unestablished; therefore, it is merely designated as without inherent existence. That appearance also arises spontaneously from its own essence; therefore, it is merely a symbolic expression of interdependence as its nature. From the time it appears as arising from its own essence, there is no direction or limit of arising and non-arising. Therefore, essence is also merely a name, with no entity whatsoever. All is constantly in a state of immutability. From bodhicitta, there is not even a particle of movement. From the treasury of the dharmadhatu, the third chapter, showing the metaphors of bodhicitta. The nature of the all-encompassing bodhicitta is not appearance, it transcends the dharma of appearance. It is not emptiness, it transcends the dharma of emptiness. It is not existence, it has no characteristics of things. It is not non-existence, it pervades all of samsara and nirvana. It is neither existence nor non-existence, it is the spontaneously co-emergent, primordial realm. It has no direction or limit, no basis or thing. Without interruption, it is the expanse of awareness, bodhi. Without change or transformation, the sky is primordially open. Self-arisen wisdom, the meaning of non-duality. Unborn, unceasing, gathered into one bindu. Undetermined, all-pervading, without any boundaries. Spontaneously co-emergent, unwavering, the lineage of the vajra heart. This supreme realm of inseparable union, this vast expanse, is not the object of expression by words. The expanse of wisdom bursts forth, the realm of individual self-awareness. The yogi who is free from thought, speech, and elaboration, decides without designation or non-designation. Not finding what is to be meditated upon or the meditator, there is no need to kill the enemies of sinking and agitation, conceptual thoughts. In the nature of things that is primordially self-liberated, there is no thought of self and other. This three realms is itself a field of equal nature. The Buddhas of the three times are self-appearing purity, without acceptance or rejection, all is equal in one taste. There is not even a particle to be obtained from elsewhere. All dharmas are clear in the great expanse of mind itself, without the slightest movement from the meaning of equality. Without inside or outside, without the disturbance of arising and ceasing. Dispelling the darkness of the edge, the root is bodhicitta. Not abandoning anything, spontaneously accomplished. The appearance of beings.
