"Clinging to self is like killing an enemy, like eating human flesh; these needs are always relied upon in the continuum. The ultimate six ways to tame one's own continuum: the ultimate for a prisoner is to abandon attachment to their homeland, the ultimate for a farmer is to rely on diligence in virtuous deeds." "The ultimate permanent home is to hold onto the ground of reality, the ultimate protection is to abandon clinging to self and cherishing, the ultimate enemy is to tame the five poisons in one's own continuum." "The ultimate practice is to maintain unwavering mindfulness; possessing this, one's wishes will be fulfilled as desired. The six dangers of decline for those who practice Dharma are: even with faith, if one does not abandon profit and fame, ultimately there is a danger of declining from human Dharma, be cautious! Even relying on a monastery, if one does not have determination, ultimately there is a danger of declining into distraction, be cautious! Even if signs of accomplishment appear, if one does not abandon arrogance, ultimately there is a danger of being taken by demons, be cautious! Even gathering with those who have vows, if one does not have compassion, ultimately there is a danger of one's actions going astray, be cautious!" "Even if one's view is high, if one does not turn away from attachment, ultimately there is a danger of declining into wickedness, be cautious! Even if one strives for the benefit of others, if one mixes in selfish desires, ultimately there is a danger of becoming hypocritical, be cautious! The necessity of abandoning the six obscurations is: not holding onto the true Dharma is an obscuration to be abandoned, not knowing what is a demon is an obscuration, not having devotion to the lama is an obscuration, not having pure perception of Dharma friends is an obscuration, slandering entry into the Great Vehicle is an obscuration, misconduct and deceit of body, speech, and mind are obscurations, abandoning these is the key to practicing the path to liberation." "The six Dharmas of limitless value, free from obscurations, are: giving without expecting a return, giving impartially in all directions, not pursuing worldly affairs, maintaining pure morality, not abandoning sentient beings, generating love and compassion, never being satisfied with knowing the true Dharma, not seeking gain and honor, teaching the excellent Dharma to beings, not being biased, holding good intentions equally for all. Such excellent conduct is sublime. The six qualities of the Great Vehicle's teachings are: not being lazy in relying on a spiritual friend, not being weary in benefiting sentient beings, not being arrogant even when realizing the nature of reality, abandoning gains that do not lead to meaning, not being afraid of the profound meaning, and not being content in accumulating virtue. The six Dharmas for defeating the great enemy of afflictions are:

Since a few days of virtuous deeds cannot eliminate afflictions, cherish continuous practice without impatience. Since beginningless afflictions are extremely difficult to subdue, cherish relying on extremely profound antidotes with skillful means. Since self-grasping is difficult to destroy and the waves of grasping at subject and object are great, cherish accumulating the two accumulations and striving for virtue. Since the chronic disease of samsara is difficult to cure for a long time, cherish constantly relying on the healing guru. Since the fire of the five poisons is extremely difficult to extinguish, cherish relying on the ocean of bodhicitta. Since the path of accumulating bad karma is narrow and difficult to traverse, cherish climbing the ladder of liberation. The differences between the Tripitaka and the three trainings, especially the six dharmas, are: The Sravaka's Tripitaka follows the words of the teacher. The Pratyekabuddha realizes himself, arising from dependent origination. The Bodhisattva possesses infinite wisdom for himself and others. The Sravaka's training is one-sided, only for himself. The Pratyekabuddha is intermediate, focusing on his own benefit. The Bodhisattva necessarily has compassion and renunciation. The six dharmas of viewing the world as faulty are: Fame is like thunder, abandon joy. Enjoyment is like clouds, abandon attachment. Elderly relatives are like children, abandon expectations. Home is like a guesthouse, wander in the mountains. Happiness is like a dream, do not grasp it as real. Leave everything behind, abandon attachment. By doing so, you will become more and more happy. The six things that practitioners must do are: Wherever you are born, you must accomplish the benefit of others, therefore, practice vast bodhicitta and aspiration prayers. When happy, you must know that it is the blessing of the Dharma, therefore, contemplate the benefits and strive diligently. When suffering, you must know that it is past karma, therefore, contemplate cause and effect, and make mind training the core. When sick, you must know that it is an opportunity to train virtue, therefore, discipline your mind when you are not sick. When old, you need a happy mind, therefore, strive to accumulate and practice when you are young. When dying, you need to have completed what needs to be done, therefore, cut off attachments before you die. These appear to be the Dharma learned from the depths of the heart. The six pieces of advice strike the essential point: Family is like a marketplace, relatives are like a gathering, you do not know when you will separate, ultimately focus on the real meaning. Relatives are like small birds gathering on a willow tree, you do not know when they will scatter, cut off attachment. Life is impermanent like dew on the tip of grass, meditate!
