Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! With the great ship of supreme compassion and wisdom, having crossed to the other shore of the three realms of existence, the wish-fulfilling guide who has perfectly descended upon the high ground, I pay homage to all Buddhas and their retinues! For those fortunate ones who desire the supreme liberation, having gathered the essence of sutras, tantras, and oral instructions, and completely revealed all the profound key points, please listen with reverence to these six sets of six teachings. First, the six practices for entering the path are: guarding the three trainings as the foundation of the path; engaging in various unbiased activities of listening and contemplation; pacifying the three doors of body, speech, and mind, and taming one's own mind-stream; abstaining from evil and increasing virtue; generating shame and faith; and relying on virtuous spiritual friends and companions. These are extremely important for beginners. Then, if one wishes to live alone in solitude, the six practices of preparation are essential: being able to be independent, separate from the lama; having no doubts or obstacles, and no questions; having no illness, demonic influences, or hindrances in the body; having completely emerged from worldly society; possessing the complete instructions for accomplishing the two benefits; and having a decisive understanding of the view. Then, the six practices for relying on a monastery are: the place is secluded and possesses all the qualities; it has been trodden by the feet of previous accomplished ones; it is free from decline, therefore oath-bound ones gather; there are no causes for distraction or busyness; it is easy to obtain favorable conditions and resources; and there is no harm from humans or non-humans. Then, the six substances for accomplishing favorable conditions are: food and drink, and a livelihood that does not fall to either extreme; a complete collection of necessary offerings and practice materials; complete books of profound oral instructions; auspicious substances for averting obstacles; all necessary components are complete; and there is no connection to the accumulation of much wealth. Then, the six qualities of the best companion are: having a good lineage and a tamed mind-stream; possessing faith, diligence, and great wisdom; having similar practices and being comfortable to be with; having little pride and tamed senses; and having pure vows.

Fields appear pure and vast." "Rely on a secret friend with great and deep affection. The ultimate practice of the supreme six dharmas is: Backing scripture combined, reason established. Key points of oral instructions, stages of ground and path complete. Integrating high and low, free from extremes. The six dharmas of enduring perseverance in practice are: Even if killed, one will not turn away from the supreme Dharma." "Moreover, wrong views do not arise, vows are guarded and not destroyed by interruptions, one can mix meditative experience with post-meditation." "Until accomplishment, one does not abandon diligence, one can make abandonment and closeness meet, and taste equality. Then, the six dharmas to contemplate are: All faults come from oneself, all suffering comes from past karma, past karma also comes from present conditions, bad conditions come from one's own conceptual agitation." "That also comes from following mistaken objects, therefore, contemplate that it obscures the path to liberation. The six dharmas of all faults being done by oneself are: The suffering of birth and death comes from oneself, the suffering of searching without finding, the suffering of sustaining life done for oneself, holding onto attachment and aversion to enemies and friends, the suffering of enemies meeting and friends parting is done by oneself, the great suffering of the three lower realms, not by others, but also done by one's own karma. The six dharmas of mistaken appearances, bad thoughts, and errors are: One's own untamed mind, harm without end, the appearance of harm is one's own impure appearance, sound emptiness, following sound autonomously, letting the mind be free, holding onto affirmation and negation," "Holding onto uncertain happiness and suffering as certain, anger and hatred burning one's own continuum. The six dharmas of great significance in reversing mistaken appearances are: Enduring harm, generating compassion, not grasping as ghosts, knowing them as parents, clinging to delusion, practicing unreality, cutting the root of delusion, the root of the mind, transforming whatever appears as circumstances into the path, not straying from ordinariness, relying on antidotes." "The six dharmas of the dangerous nature of samsara's own continuum are: Body and mind not separated from suffering, there is no happiness, the suffering of this life, even if sought, there is no time to separate, one's own body is not free, there is no meaning of happiness, old age and prolonged illness, there is no opportunity for happiness," "Without exhausting karma, it is the suffering of samsara.
