In the uncertain places throughout Jambudvipa and the abodes of gods and nagas, the perfect teacher, Shakyamuni Buddha, for the perfect retinue of monks, nuns, gods, nagas, bodhisattvas, and countless others, taught the perfect Dharma, the final teachings, the categories of definitive meaning. The time was perfect, from the age of seventy-three to eighty-two. Among these, the Abhidhamma Pitaka primarily teaches the training in higher wisdom. The Abhidhamma's Vinaya subdues afflictions through easy and simple methods. The Abhidhamma's Sutra is the ocean of ways to enter Suchness. The Abhidhamma's Abhidhamma includes the aggregates, elements, sources, faculties, consciousness, and the divisions of the Tathagatagarbha, which is naturally pure. As stated in the "Seven Hundred Section Sutra": "The Able One, for the sake of sentient beings, well taught the aggregates of Dharma, the places and times in order, proclaimed with the voice of Brahma." Thus it is. From a unique perspective, it seems that the three turnings of the wheel of Dharma were taught sequentially to those who gradually enter based on the minds of the trainees; while for those who enter simultaneously, it appears as if the teachings were given at a single moment of complete action. As stated in the "King of Arrayed Merits Sutra": "I have not spoken anything, yet it appears extensively to sentient beings. Whenever there is a desire for gradual manifestation, it is the same for all of them. For those who enter in a single moment, the categories of Dharma appear complete. The greatness of speech is such that it fulfills all wishes." Thus it is. Here, some teachers believe that the three turnings of the wheel of Dharma are only turned simultaneously, while others believe that they are taught sequentially. Both fail to understand the meaning of distinguishing common and uncommon based on the difference in faculties. Therefore, the teacher is like a precious jewel, fulfilling the wishes of beings as they desire. Through the blessings of the Buddha, the sixty kinds of voices appear in the languages of different beings, thus accomplishing their benefit, yet in reality, sounds and words themselves have no fixed nature, but depend on the inclinations of the trainees and the blessings of the Buddha.
