Although the retinue can arise holding the self-nature, the retinue cannot give rise to holding the distinction of the main. The second case is also the same, because there is no simultaneity, so the retinue can give rise to holding the distinction of the main, but the main cannot give rise to holding the self-nature of the retinue. The third case is also the same, because when they exist simultaneously, in the mind, one thing does not have the ability to bestow benefit and what is bestowed benefit, so for the retinue that exists simultaneously, the main cannot give rise to holding the self-nature, and the retinue cannot give rise to holding the distinction of the main at the same time." "The fifth case is, if it is not arising simultaneously, but the main of the previous moment gives rise to the self-nature of the mind's retinue of the present, and the mind's retinue of the previous moment gives rise to the distinction of the main of the present, then it is not so, the eye consciousness that arises immediately after rising from meditative absorption, does the distinction appear from that without the previous former consciousness retinue? If not, because the pervasion is not established, that distinction appearance is not the result of the previous retinue, if not, although the main has self-nature appearance, but there is no distinction appearance, there is the fault of one thing having two parts of appearance and non-appearance. Also, when the eye consciousness retinue immediately after rising from meditative absorption has distinction appearance, is there self-nature appearance? If not, although there is no previous main, there is self-nature appearance, because the pervasion is not established, so the self-nature appearance is not reasonable as the result of the previous main, if not, the retinue has distinction appearance, but there is no self-nature appearance, one thing has two parts of appearance and non-appearance, there will be this fault. Second, to establish as one thing, the main mind-only and the retinue mental factors are one thing, although all self-natures appear, but from the pervasion of self-nature appearance, it is the main, from the pervasion of distinction appearance, it is the retinue, just like consciousness and impermanence are one thing, but consciousness is the aggregate of consciousness, impermanence is the aggregate of formation, although one thing is self-nature appearance is the aggregate of consciousness, but the pervasion of distinction appearance is the aggregate of formation, this is not contradictory, so mind and mental factors are one thing, there are different pervasions, mind is the appearance of dualistic grasping, similarly attachment etc. appear" "Or, faith etc. appear

Saying desire. Afflictions and virtuous dharmas are not existent. As stated in the Lankavatara Sutra. Therefore, the essence is one. Fourth, non-associated formations are like the palm and fist. They are the state of form, mind, and ༼1༽mental factors, similar to the life faculty, and the four such as birth, and the nine concordant with ordinary beings are as before. The state of all three, form, mind, and mental factors, is the same as before, but attainment is not the state of other consciousnesses, but the state of the Alaya consciousness leaving imprints by other consciousnesses. The three samadhis are also not the state of the body, but the state of the Alaya consciousness where six or seven consciousnesses have ceased. The aggregates of names and so on are also not the state of the nature of sound itself, but the state where mental discrimination and its retinue appear as names, sentences, and letters. Fifth, unconditioned phenomena are the same as the Sautrantikas, and on top of the previous three, they also say that there are others such as the Tathagatagarbha and the Dharmadhatu. Those tenets, although slightly superior to the Shravakas, are still not very good, so there are two types of refutation: general refutation and specific refutation. The first is to understand through three points: appearance should not be mind, conceptualization is unreasonable, and it is not permissible to establish names for selflessness. The first has already been discussed when refuting the Sautrantikas. The second is that if the appearance of the double moon and general meanings are objects of consciousness, they become dependent on others, so what is conceptualization? If the object of clinging to self is the two selves, then the two selves do not exist because the basis does not exist. The characteristic of conceptualization does not exist. Therefore, the signified conceptualization, which is distinguished from dissimilar classes, cannot exist either. Third, does the selflessness of phenomena appear to consciousness or not? If it appears, since it is the nature of consciousness, it should not be emptiness. If it does not appear, since it is not an object of valid cognition, it is not certain because it is not a subject, so it is unreasonable to establish it as the name of selflessness. The second is that there are two types of specific refutation: it is unreasonable for multiple aspects to be known as one truth, and it is unreasonable for multiple aspects to be known as multiple truths. The first is that if one says that the consciousness that appears as diverse is the nature of an indivisible unity,
