Pa. Where it is born, it is different. Touch and so on are also the same, there is no Arhat. There is no absorption in cessation. There is no path beyond the world. It is said like this. Thus, the six aggregates, the basis of all, and the afflicted mind are the eight consciousness aggregates. It is said like that." "Third, there are four tenets of the monist school: the way in which consciousness examines objects, the way in which antidotes eliminate what is to be abandoned, the cause of determining multiplicity, and the collection of meanings. The first is that those who speak of the Bodhisattva as one alone say that consciousness alone enters into many objects. Just as the single eye consciousness manifests the appearances of many objects such as blue and yellow, it is not contradictory that the single consciousness manifests the appearances of many things such as form and sound. In one concept, the general meaning of reversal does not appear, but the clarity of consciousness experiences all reversals as its own nature without distinction. Therefore, it is not contradictory that its general meaning does not appear, just as blue and so on also grasp the general meaning of each reversed aspect. Therefore, there is also conceptualization in it, but it experiences the self-nature of the meaning of clarity that is without remainder and without distinction. Therefore, its general meaning does not appear, and there is no conceptualization in it, which is not contradictory in one entity." "The second is that the antidote destroys what is to be abandoned, just as fire and cold touch are different entities, but it is said that what is harmed and what harms, which arise in opposition to the continuous arising, are the eight consciousness aggregates. The alaya is harmed by the seed aspect, and the mind accustomed to selflessness eliminates the power generated by the force of the harmer. However, it is not like the continuum of a thing that has reached its prime, when it is born as an old person, that continuum itself reverts to the appearance of its former prime. Thus it is said that old age destroys youth. Thus, the continuum of the thing of consciousness with a reversed appearance is born as a non-reversed consciousness, and it is said that the antidote destroys what is to be abandoned when it no longer has the power to generate reversal. Therefore, it is said that the antidote that arises later eliminates what is to be abandoned that existed earlier. The third is that if the consciousness aggregate is one, it contradicts the experience of multiplicity, but it is not so. The one thing of consciousness depends on appearing at the gate of many sources and becomes the object of many.

Manifesting various appearances is due to having multiple consciousnesses. For example, if a monkey appears in multiple holes of a castle, it can be determined that there are multiple monkeys; or if one cannot see the person inside from the holes in four directions, it is like knowing that there are many individuals." "The fourth is: Whoever is bodiless, dwells in a cave, wanders afar and acts alone, taming the mind that is difficult to tame, I call this a Brahmin." As stated in the Chapter on Utterances of Spontaneous Joy. Third, regarding the basis of mental factors, there are two: it is unreasonable for mind and substance to be not the same, and the establishment of the non-difference of substances. The first has five: the sameness of objects is not established, it contradicts experience, the non-difference of substances contradicts appearance and non-appearance, self-power and other-power are unreasonable, and the refutation of the answers to these. First, even with the mental factors previously discussed as being of one substance, some say that there are five different substances from the primary consciousness, and therefore consider the five that are the same as the primary consciousness to be the same. Some say that if this is the case, when conceptual mind arises, the accompanying mental factors are non-conceptual, then the primary consciousness grasps the general meaning, while the accompanying factors grasp the specific characteristics of the object, therefore the sameness of objects is not permissible." "Second, if the accompanying mind is conceptual, then only the five pervasive accompanying factors arise, so the conceptual mind is six substances; if many accompanying factors arise, then the conceptual mind is many substances arising in the same continuum, which contradicts experience because experience proves that such a thing does not exist. Third, the nature of eye consciousness is appearance, but the distinctions do not appear, while its retinue does not primarily appear. If, as it is believed that substances are one entity, then appearance and non-appearance would not contradict each other in one substance, and if it becomes non-contradictory, it is also contradictory." "Fourth, if the primary mind also manifests both the nature and distinctions of the object, and the retinue also manifests both, because there are two aspects of appearance and non-appearance, the appearance of the nature of the primary consciousness is due to its own power, therefore it is established as the appearance of nature, while the appearance of distinctions is due to the power of the retinue, therefore it is not established as the appearance of distinctions. The appearance of distinctions of the retinue is also due to its own power, therefore it is established as the appearance of distinctions, while the appearance of nature is due to the power of the primary consciousness, therefore it is not established as the appearance of nature. If this is the case, then is the primary mind prior, or are the accompanying mental factors prior, or do they exist simultaneously? If it is the former, then simultaneous existence is not permissible, and the primary consciousness
