The superior seeing that distinguishes, thus, calm abiding and superior seeing follow one mind, so they are combined in union. The six perfections are also complete, the essential instructions for all practices, in the Ornament of Clear Realization it says: Flowers, cushions, etc., are offered excellently, places and conduct are restrained, harming all living beings is abandoned, to the lama, prayers are offered, without distraction, hold the lama's instructions, to dispel thoughts, ask about faults in speech, the lamp has six branches. Thus it is said. The benefits of teaching and listening are: distinguishing between Dharma and non-Dharma, because of knowing what to abandon and adopt, dispelling the darkness of ignorance and proceeding on the path to liberation. As the teacher Jewel Hidden said: Listening is the lamp that dispels the darkness of ignorance, meeting with virtuous ones is the best of men. Listening is the root of accumulating virtuous Dharma, like a hand it accomplishes all that is needed. Thus it is said. In Jewel Source Peaceful's Praise of Listening it says: Listening abandons what is meaningless, listening obtains nirvana, listening makes one turn away from sin, listening perfectly accomplishes the accumulation of qualities. Thus it is said. Among the six perfections, wisdom is supreme, its cause is listening, therefore, in the Sublime Continuum it says it is most excellent: Since giving accomplishes enjoyments, discipline leads to higher realms, meditation abandons afflictions, wisdom abandons all afflictions and objects of knowledge, therefore this is supreme, its cause is listening. Thus it is said. Wisdom is supreme, these four, listening therefore listening is supreme. Thus it is said. To contemplate the meaning with correct listening༼1༽, never to slander the Dharma or individuals, because the obscurations are extremely heavy. Thus it is said༼2༽, in that it says: Slandering the noble ones and despising the Dharma they have spoken, all that is the manifestation of ignorant attachment, increasing afflictions. Therefore, do not associate with those who have biased views. Thus it is said. Without the eye of wisdom that sees well, believing in words of true meaning, and words slandered by those with biased jealousy, without examining the nature, having wrong views, or slandering out of jealousy just because of gaining profit, is even more immeasurable obscuration.

Therefore, those who are naturally intelligent and impartial should not commit such sins even for the sake of life and wealth in this life, because they will be born in Avici hell. Even if one has committed the five heinous crimes, one can be liberated by contemplating the profound meaning, but abandoning the Dharma is not like that. As it is said in the Uttaratantra: Because of inferior intellect, because of lacking good intentions, because of relying on wrong views, because of being obscured by the poverty of the sacred Dharma, because of clinging to the literal meaning, because of being greedy for gain, because of being dominated by views, because of relying on those who slander the Dharma, because of prolonging attachment to the Dharma, because of inferior faith, even Arhats abandon the Dharma. Just as the profound Dharma declines, so too should wise people not be extremely afraid of fire, loathsome poisonous snakes, executioners, and hail. Fire, snakes, enemies, and the fire of Vajra only take away life, but abandoning the Dharma will not lead to such extreme fear as going to Avici hell. If someone repeatedly associates with evil friends, harbors ill will towards the Buddha, kills parents and Arhats, does what should not be done, and breaks up the Sangha, even such a person can quickly be liberated from that by truly contemplating the nature of reality, but how can one who hates the Dharma in their heart be liberated? So on and so forth. Because the inclinations of sentient beings are diverse, and people and Dharma also appear in various ways, in order to benefit sentient beings, one should not falsely accuse any kind of Dharma, saying that it is a false Dharma, a fake Dharma, or an evil Dharma. Then, is it not said that like gold that is burned, cut, and polished, examine my teachings well and accept them, but not out of respect for me? This refers to the fact that when one is learning the Dharma for one's own benefit, one should use the wisdom that arises from thinking to distinguish between right and wrong in the order of words and meanings, and not to have doubts about whether other kinds of Dharma are correct or not. In short, all the ways of the path that cause one to abandon samsara and strive for Nirvana are the Dharma of the Buddha. It does not matter what name is used to call them, so do not hate and abandon them, but exhort people to do so. As has been said before, all the reasons that are related to meaningful Dharma, and so on. Therefore, understand this principle.
