As for us, the small ones, because the basis we rely on has no inherent nature, our minds are without defilement. Although it pervades all dependent phenomena, it is self-luminous and unchanging, so the circumstances of samsara and nirvana are naturally pure. Therefore, we regard samsara as a great battlefield. The nature of the expanse of space, the nature of mind, is naturally uncreated, so the mind that arises from that nature is also naturally liberated. If divided, there are two: the expanse of the sun and moon and the white expanse of jewels. The nature of the expanse of the sun and moon is utterly pure emptiness, its essence is unborn, and it is primordially liberated. The nature of the expanse of jewels is that qualities are inherently present and naturally manifest in perfection, so all causes and effects of effortful practice are naturally purified. Since the mind is without action, the nature of reality is considered spontaneously accomplished. Fourth, the nature of the vast expanse that confuses cause and effect is that the phenomena that arise from the nature of self-arisen wisdom are known by the mind when they appear, and known by the true state when they do not appear. If divided, there are four: the outer vast expanse that is free from action; the inner vast expanse that speaks of tenets in one's own tradition; the secret vast expanse that dispels obstacles; and the suchness vast expanse that reveals the essential points. The nature of the first is that self-arisen wisdom has no cause, so it is the key point of non-reversal; because there is no condition, it appears in various ways, so it is the key point of non-harm; because there are neither cause nor condition, it is the key point of not being established in either samsara or nirvana. With these three key points, it is considered to transcend acceptance and rejection, and action. Therefore, because the nature of the mind has no action, it is the key point that one cannot attain Buddhahood through fabricated dharmas. Because the mind has no reason, it is inherently manifest as transcending one and other. The nature of the second is that the eight vehicles do not rely on self-arisen wisdom, so they dispel the mistaken notions of gradual effort, and have not escaped the prison of cause and effect samsara. In the nature of reality, which is uncreated and pervades all directions, although it appears in various ways, it is liberated as one in the true state, so it is called transcending self-arisen effort. For example, the shadows of various trees are different, or various trees produce the same fire. Therefore, the Great Perfection of the naturally complete true state, although it manifests in various impartial and all-pervading ways, is the view of primordial liberation, abiding in the natural state, and is considered to be a nature without limitations or biases. The nature of the third is that in self-arisen wisdom, there has never been appearance or mind, but due to the deluded mind of clinging, appearance is mistaken for mind.

Because the nature of awareness is primordially pure, it manifests as pure. Without abandoning appearance and mind, it is perfected in the great self-liberation, merging into the non-dual, sky-like equality of one taste. Agitation is the obstacle of the mind. Thoughts and concepts are pure from their own nature. In naked awareness, they manifest clearly, and the radiation and absorption of phenomena arise, merging into the great emptiness and purity of agitation. External objects appear as diverse, and the mind clings to them, while awareness is cut off. The nature of reality is such that one does not touch or relate to the other. Because the nature is not recognized, clinging to the duality of grasper and grasped, it merges into the great self-purifying stillness. That is, because there is no "is" in view, it transcends words and terms. Because there is no "is not" in meditation, there is no acceptance or rejection, no affirmation or negation. Because there is neither "is" nor "is not" in action, fabricated phenomena are liberated in the nature of reality. Because there is no abandonment or attainment in the result, it is desired to abide in self-nature, free from dependence. The essence of the fourth is that all phenomena of samsara and nirvana manifest as the body and wisdom of appearance-awareness. Therefore, from the present moment, without distinguishing between samsara and nirvana, without adding or subtracting, all appearances, whether external objects or mind, are regarded as the great nature of reality. There, on the basis of recognizing what "is," one relaxes nakedly, openly, and without wavering. This is called the unmoving, spontaneously accomplished great peg, which falls between the two of grasper and grasped. Without transforming or abandoning the appearance of samsaric delusion, but in the nature of reality, without effort, one is immersed in the intention of Samantabhadra. Because the key point of the naked awareness of self-nature is to place thoughts in their own place, through stillness, the essence of thought is liberated in the absence of inner and outer objects. This is called attaining Buddhahood in the great, unconditioned, total liberation. Without seeking through thought, without anger, it transcends the mind. Whatever appears arises without dependence, transcending objects. Whatever arises dissolves in itself, transcending acceptance and rejection. Appearances and thoughts arise in equal taste, transcending action, cause, and effect. In short, it can be summarized into the four realms of play, adornment, nature of reality, and non-action. The realm of play is that in the state of unobstructed manifestation of play without "is," samsara and nirvana are unchanging and unmoving. Because there is no basis for "is not," play does not fall into extreme clinging. It should be known that this is an intention that transcends boundaries like space. The realm of adornment is that appearance is originally the adornment of the mind, the nature of mind is originally the self-born adornment, and the self-born is originally the adornment without fabrication. From the state of non-birth, it manifests unhindered.
