Ultimately attaining Buddhahood, as it is said therein: Whoever takes refuge in the Three Jewels, will quickly attain Buddhahood. The instruction is to take refuge one hundred and eight times every day and night. Having taken refuge in the Lama, therefore, respect virtuous spiritual friends and do not rely on evil companions. Having taken refuge in the Buddha, therefore, do not prostrate to the gods of outsiders, such as Ishvara, or even worldly deities. Having taken refuge in the Dharma, therefore, do not harm sentient beings. Having taken refuge in the Sangha, therefore, do not associate with Tirthikas or those who denigrate cause and effect. As it is said therein: Those who have taken refuge in the Buddha should never rely on or take refuge in other gods. Those who have taken refuge in the Dharma should be free from harmful and hurtful thoughts. Those who have taken refuge in the Sangha should not associate with Tirthikas. Even if you see their images, offer prostrations with faith and do not do disrespectful things such as stepping on them. Generating the Great Vehicle Bodhicitta: From then on, generating the supreme Bodhicitta is desiring Buddhahood for the sake of others, which is the nature of aspiration and engagement. The essence of the Great Vehicle Bodhicitta is: desiring to attain Buddhahood for the sake of others. The Ornament of Clear Realization says: Generating Bodhicitta is for the sake of others, desiring perfect and complete enlightenment. If distinguishing, like preparing to go, wishing to attain Buddhahood is aspiration, like walking, pervading through practice is engagement. The Bodhicaryavatara says: Bodhicitta, in brief, should be known as twofold, namely, aspiring Bodhicitta and engaging Bodhicitta. Just as the difference between wanting to go and going, likewise, the wise should gradually understand the difference between these two. Here, the difference between mind and mental factors is explained: By generating Bodhicitta, mental factors naturally arise. Mind is the essence of the object, knowing by its own power. Mental factors are the distinctions of the object, knowing by its own power. Mind is the essence of the object, like a pillar, knowing by its own power. Mental factors, on the other hand, know the distinctions of the object, such as thickness and thinness, by their own power. The Madhyantavibhaga says: Therefore, knowing the object is consciousness, its distinctions arise from mental factors.

Ung. Thus it is said. That is, like the sun and its rays, the mind and mental events enter simultaneously, so by generating the mind, mental events also become the cause of arising. After the mind is generated, there is no need to initially generate mental events, understand it that way. Since the presence or absence of mind is definite, consider the presence or absence of the method of generation: In the time of samsara, the actions and activities of the mind and mental events are various and moving, so wisdom is not apparent, therefore generate the mind, to make wisdom extremely clear, and place the ability on the meaning. It is sufficient to generate non-discriminating wisdom from the beginning, but why generate a mind with faults? It is true that in this place of samsara, that wisdom does not actually appear at all times, so it is necessary to generate this function of discriminating on any mind. By generating that, there is no fault because it places the ability on wisdom. In one way, the object of aspiration and subsequent action is the generation of mind, and at the time of entering meditative equipoise, the mind is generated as wisdom, as it is said in the Illusion Sutra, the mind is generated as wisdom. Emaho, wondrous and amazing Dharma! The secret of all perfect Buddhas! From the unborn, all is born! The nature of the born is unborn. Thus it is said. Of the ten grounds, at the end of the continuum, the mind ceases, from that generation ritual, even if the nearly attained mind generation reverts, because it is divided into the powerful wisdom of that, it increases in the Buddha ground, accomplishes the benefit of beings with compassion, and is called the mind generation that has abandoned obscurations. That is, after the moment of the end of the continuum of the ten grounds, when the first wisdom of the Buddha arises, the mind and mental events cease, so even though what is obtained and included by the mind generation ritual generated by that ceases, because the wisdom that was previously generated as ultimate wisdom and the wisdom that placed the ability exists without ceasing, the obscurations of that realm are separated and become clear by strength, and it is called the mind generation that has abandoned obscurations in the accomplishment of the benefit of sentient beings, as it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras, that mind generation is on the grounds, aspiration and pure higher thought, likewise those who have abandoned obscurations, the other maturation is different, thus it is said. Just as the name of a single stream of water changes at the mouth of each valley, the single mind generation of aspiration and action, at the time of accumulation and application, arises from aspiration.
