Emptiness. In the other three continents, death mostly occurs untimely, and especially in Jambudvipa (the continent we live on), sudden deaths are numerous, so it's uncertain when one will die. The Asuras residing inside Mount Meru also experience anger and strife, unwanted events occurring, death, and so on. They possess various sufferings and have no happiness. Asuras fight and quarrel with each other, the wind of jealousy howls, and the fire of hatred blazes, causing various stings, death, unfulfilled desires, and unwanted events, leading to immeasurable suffering. Life is uncertain because it is the desire realm. Some powerful Yakshas are equal to the Four Great Kings, some powerful deities are equal to the Thirty-three Gods, some murderous Rakshasas are equal to the Pretas (hungry ghosts), and some deluded animals are equal to animals. Even the gods in the higher realms experience death, transference, falling, and so on. The ocean of suffering is boundless and immeasurable. The Thirty-three Gods and the six desire realms are intoxicated by desire and are reckless. At the time of death, they experience the suffering of fearing the place of rebirth, like fish thrown into hot sand, experiencing seven days of divine suffering before dying. There are also many fights and sorrows. In the two higher realms, there is also immeasurable suffering of rebirth. The length of life has already been discussed. Now, to conclude, advise to be weary of the nature of samsara, which should be abandoned: Thus, samsara is like a pit of fire, with no time for happiness, like the turning of a water wheel. From one life to another, without beginning or end, wise people generate joy for liberation. There is no happiness in any of the three realms and six paths, just as there is no coolness in a pit of fire. That is to say, after enjoying the pleasures of the gods, one experiences the angry waters and so on in hell. From one life to another, in samsara, it is impossible to think that I have not experienced this happiness and suffering, have not lived in this place, have not stayed in this womb, and have not drunk more milk than the ocean. Even though I have wandered so many times, there is still no liberation, so I must generate weariness because I will continue to wander as before. As it says in the Letter to a Friend: "Region."

There is no place where one has not dwelled, and there is no direction in the sky where one has not gone. However, attachment and craving continue to grow, and there is no suffering that has not been experienced many times before. There is no being that is satisfied with desires, and if there is no being that has not lain in your womb, then how can there be detachment from those in samsara? What being has not gone hundreds of times, and what happiness has not been experienced many times before? Thus it is said. In the "Letter to a Friend": Each one has drunk more milk than the four oceans, yet still each one follows (1) the cycle of beings, and will drink even more than that. Thus it is said. Thinking about the benefits of liberation, the advice to definitely emerge from samsara is: From such a meaningless cycle of existence, the side of liberation is nirvana, the supreme nectar of peace and coolness, constant, stable, unchanging, and free from elaboration. The qualities of self-nature are complete, without old age or death, without obscurations or defilements, a place of benefit and happiness. The refuge and support of beings, the wise strive to go there. Samsara appears as a detestable, fault-filled pit of fire that is difficult to cross, while nirvana is a peaceful and cool, delightful forest, endowed with qualities such as strength and fearlessness. Without old age or death, it is a constant, stable, unobscured, excellent and sacred place. Having gone there oneself, one should also strive with upright methods, thus encouraging others. From the Great Vehicle's instruction manual, the treatise "Wish-Fulfilling Treasure," the seventeenth chapter, a detailed explanation of understanding samsara as suffering and contemplating nirvana as happiness, is complete. Having thus contemplated the meaning of purity, in order to realize that meaning, the third stage of generating wisdom arising from meditation in the mindstream, it is necessary to ascertain the basis of what needs to be established, the preliminary to meditating on the meaning, the main practice of abiding in the state of luminosity, the subsequent practice of taking the path and signs of warmth, and the ultimate result of accomplishment, among these five. First, to ascertain the basis of what needs to be established, which is also common, in the stage of wisdom arising from hearing, it is necessary to know the limits of what has been established.
