Thinking that death is certain, like being caught by the son who killed his father, or like a fish caught in a net, or like a criminal being sentenced and handed over to the executioner, or like entering a nest of poisonous snakes, or like entering the mouth of a Rakshasa, or like entering the island of Rakshasis, or like entering the mouth of a crocodile, or like a ship breaking in the sea, or like a boat sinking in the river, or like being deceived by a guide in a terrifying place, or like falling into an inescapable cliff, or like being shot in the heart with an arrow. Knowing that there is no help whatsoever, thereby abandoning the affairs of Samsara, from Nirvana, always like an enemy, suffering is connected. For the impure body and desires, who would like wanting benefits, wanting to eliminate suffering? There is no attachment to impermanent desires. Thus it is said. Many previously non-existent qualities will also arise in the continuum, and there will be a transformation from the thought of permanence, and there will be no attachment or aversion to enemies and friends, and there will always be diligence in virtue, and knowing that this life is an illusion, and perfecting the two accumulations of merit and wisdom, possessing fame that is in accordance with the Dharma, ༼༡༽ the intentions of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, spending life with joy and happiness, and being born in the world of good destinies and high realms, immediately after birth encountering the sacred Dharma, and the Lama, the virtuous spiritual friend, and always having autonomy, and ordaining in the Buddhist teachings, and being able to maintain celibacy until the end of life, spending days and nights with the Dharma, and practicing the Mahayana Dharma, and associating with noble beings, quickly attaining complete perfect enlightenment, and so on, the immeasurable doors of benefits have been spoken. In the treatise on the essential instructions of the Great Vehicle, the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Treasury, the commentary on the chapter on contemplating the impermanence of life, which is the fourteenth chapter, is completed. Having thus understood the nature of impermanence, in order to engage the nature of faith, which is the root of all Dharmas, in contemplation, it is advised: Having thus realized the nature of impermanence, the only thing to cherish is to generate the army of faith. On the path to liberation, faith alone is crucial. In the Precious Garland it is said: Only those with faith rely on the Dharma, only those with wisdom truly understand.
