《法句经》中说:“有些人死在母亲的子宫里,有些人刚出生就死亡,有些人走到衰老的时候,同样有些人”, "english_translation": "Therefore, what seizes all these beings is: From the Wise and Foolish Sutra, it says, "Accumulation ends in dissipation, meeting ends in separation, actions end in destruction, and the living end in death." And from the Extensive Play Sutra, it says, "Death seizes hundreds and thousands of living beings, like the makara in the ocean for the assembly of beings. For the nagas, it is like the garuda, for the elephants, it is like the lion, and for the assembly of grass and trees, it is like fire." Death makes the powerful powerless, death snatches life like a flood carrying away trees. People go alone, without friends, and without autonomy because their own karmic results ripen. And from the Nirvana Sutra, it says, "Even if life is long, it will surely perish in the end, here everything will निश्चित (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning) die. Wealth declines, youth is destroyed by old age, beauty is eroded by disease, and life is severed by death." Therefore, because we do not know when we will die, we must contemplate that death is certain. Because there is no decrease or increase, we do not know when we will die. Just as days and nights and months and years, mornings and afternoons pass, we approach death. Because of aging, life does not increase, but there is decrease. Like the shadow of the setting sun, life decreases. Like a granary being depleted, life is exhausted. Like a leak in a pond, life is exhausted. Similarly, like clouds disappearing in the sky, water flowing down a cliff, arriving before the executioner, a stream flowing into the ocean, a giant shooting an arrow, leading beings to the slaughterhouse, life decreases and death is certain. The Bodhicharyavatara says, "Life is constantly being damaged, there is no increase, only decrease, why should we not tend towards death?" Therefore, like a cotton thread being pulled apart, it is exhausted in an instant, and like water dripping from the palm, it is exhausted without being noticed, this is a great fault. The great Brahmin Saraha said in the Doha Vajra Song, "Alas, beautiful face, palm filled with water, like water dripping away, it is lost without being noticed." Therefore, because there is no fixed time for life, we will die. Because of obstacles such as cliffs, waterfalls, weapons, poison, and ghosts, the time of death is uncertain. Even without obstacles, we will surely die because it is shortened in an instant. The Collection of Special Topics says, "Some die in their mother's womb, some die immediately after birth, some die just as they are going to old age, likewise some"

Just by observing slightly, some are aging, some are young, and some are in their prime. These people will gradually die. Therefore, who can be sure that this person is still young? Just like ripe fruits, living beings will eventually die. So it is said. From the Past Sutra: The life of the living is destroyed by demons, and nothing is permanent. So it is said. From the Previous Sutra: Always afflicted by illness, always flowing like impure substances, the body whose lifespan is diminished by aging and death is ugly and useless. So it is said. From the Bodhisattva Pitaka: There are nine causes of sudden death: eating unsuitable food, or eating too much, eating the next meal before the previous one is digested, holding back urination and defecation instead of excreting them in time, the patient not listening to the doctor and nurse, going out at night and being struck by ghosts or powerful spirits, suppressing vomiting after taking emetics, engaging in strenuous activities without examination, and engaging in unrestrained sexual intercourse with women. So it is said. In the King of Medicine Sutra, it is also said that the doctor's compounding of non-medicinal substances and other nine situations are also included here. Therefore, there are many causes of death, and one may die while doing something or in the middle of doing something, so one cannot think that one will not die now. At the time of death, nothing follows oneself except good and evil, so no one can help you. In the Sutra of Admonishing the King, it is said: Great King, the lives of people are short and impermanent, so you should fear the next life. Time is pressing, and the king will eventually depart, and enjoyment, friends, and relatives will not follow. Wherever beings go from, karma will follow like a shadow. So it is said. In the Dhammapada, it is said: This thing has been done, now it is here, those are all finished, I will do this, when people think like this, they will be destroyed by old age, sickness, and death. So it is said. At that time, no worldly appearance can save you, so you should feel aversion. The sutra teaches: When death comes, dwelling, enjoyment, relatives, bravery, armies, and friends, etc., cannot save you, so practice the sacred Dharma! Furthermore, the dwelling that one relies on at the time of death cannot...
