When there is an assembly, subdue the enemy; when a treasure of gold and silver erupts, do whatever it takes to obtain it; when the autumn harvest ripens, do whatever it takes to accumulate it; when there is someone to escort you in a dangerous place, do whatever it takes to rescue yourself; when the borrowed tools are available, greatly increase your effort; when doing the work of a servant, do it as if completing a task. Similarly, when you obtain the precious human body with leisure and opportunity, you must diligently practice Dharma without any懈怠, because impermanence comes quickly. Thinking about this, even between sleeping and breathing, there is no time to be idle, and you should diligently practice Dharma. As the glorious Marme Dzad Yeshe said: This life is like being struck by a storm, full of dangers; it is even more impermanent than a water bubble. Between breathing and sleeping, where is there any time to be awake? It is truly amazing! As it is said. Showing the reason why one should strive to engage in meaningful activities is: In walking, sleeping, sitting, and eating, etc., abandon the six faults such as laziness. In order to accomplish the great meaning of higher realms and definite goodness, like a hungry person seeing food, strive for virtue day and night. In all situations such as walking, standing, sitting, sleeping, waking up, eating, accepting or rejecting external appearances, seeing confused visions, speaking, etc., restrain laziness,懈怠,放逸, distraction, commotion, and the unpacified aspects of body, speech, and mind, including the unpredicted. I have entered the supreme Dharma of the Great Vehicle, and I am not the same as those ordinary people, so I must strictly guard my mind. Now, what kind of non-virtue has arisen? Examine it in this way. If it has arisen, then confess and restrain it. If it has not arisen, then cultivate joy. In this way, with this intention, for virtuous deeds with or without characteristics, in any situation, there is no choice but to do whatever is appropriate. For example, a hungry person eats whatever food is available, whether it is good or bad; a thirsty person drinks whatever water they can find; a poor person cherishes whatever wealth they obtain; a skilled doctor stores whatever medicine they can find; a blind person lovingly raises whatever child they have; a person in danger seeks whatever refuge they can find. Likewise, one should diligently engage in any virtuous activity. This is with characteristics.

Therefore, I cannot be idle just because I am a great practitioner. Do not say "I have nothing to do for the Dharma" and spend your days leisurely. Do not always like to sleep, but strive to do prostrations, circumambulations, sutras, recitations, mantras, samadhi, offerings to the Three Jewels, etc. As it is said in the Sutra Requested by the Boy Illuminator: "All happiness and joy in the world arise from offering to the Three Jewels, therefore one should always strive to offer to the Three Jewels." Even offering a cup of water each day is an offering. Believe that the Three Jewels also reside in the external environment. Furthermore, for the different kinds of virtuous deeds, such as the ten practices; for the different times of practice, such as moments, instants, months, and years; for the different natures of what is to be practiced, such as with or without characteristics; for the different methods of practice, such as difficult or easy; for the different places of practice, such as solitary places and non-solitary places, in all places, for virtuous deeds, do not be selective, do not be complacent, do not discriminate between good and bad, but practice them. Just as a rich person can turn anything into wealth, a yogi can turn anything into Dharma, so strive. Whether with or without characteristics depends on one's own mind. If the mind is attached, even if one meditates on emptiness, one will be bound by the characteristics of emptiness; if the mind is broad, even if one makes prostrations and offerings, one will realize the nature of groundless illusion, therefore, it will become a companion of the Dharma. Therefore, always spend your time with virtue. Now, from the benefits arising from contemplating the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment: Abandon this life, and strive like fire to pursue the meaning of the next life. Do not waste leisure time, spend your time with virtue, and quickly cross the ocean of the three realms of existence. Like this, day and night, contemplating the benefits of the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment, although the benefits are immeasurable, if summarized, it is: Recognizing that all actions of this life are meaningless, therefore one will not indulge in them; accepting the wishes of the next life, therefore everything one does will not contradict the law of karma; striving like fire without interruption, striving for the meaning of hearing, thinking, and meditating; abandoning evil friends, and always practicing virtue, therefore one abides in the holy path; abandoning the desire for samsara, and not wasting leisure time, therefore one is filled with joy at the time of death; untying the knot of miserliness, therefore starting from the path of accumulation of generosity, etc.
