Because there is no successful generation of offspring. If it were to generate, then permanence would be lost due to change. If it arises from impermanence, then because it ceases in an instant, the cause is not established, so the result cannot arise. Because conjunction is prevented, there is no conjunction between cause and effect, so arising from a cause is not established. The third is that these various appearances are the subject. It is not established as real, because the essence is separate from existence, non-existence, and arising. That is, if the pot itself arises when it exists as a pot, then it is not appropriate to arise because it is already established as a pot. If it arises when it does not exist, then it is impossible for existence to arise from non-existence, because they are contradictory substances. The fourth is that mere knowable things are the subject. It is not established as real, because the function is not established. It does not function momentarily, because it ceases and disappears when it intends to function. It does not function gradually, because momentariness and permanence are prevented. The fifth is that mere appearance is the subject. It is not established as real, because it is dependent origination. Like a reflection. If reality were established by its own nature, then it would not arise as being related by relying on causes and conditions, because it is already established as real. Dependent origination is pervaded by emptiness. For example, when a horse and an elephant appear due to the causes and conditions of the combination of wood and mantras, just as it is empty of a horse and an elephant, whether it is coarse or subtle, when each depends on the other and appears in a different form, it is empty of the former because the form changes. Because the nature is not different from the former, it is empty of the latter. When a horse and an elephant appear, it is empty because the form does not exist in the wood and mantras, just as the essence is not established as a horse and an elephant and is empty. The Root Wisdom says: "If not for dependent arising, There would be no such thing as dharma. Therefore, there has never been, A dharma that is not empty." In this way, everything that appears, such as mountain houses, beautiful women, and various appearances, is empty because there is no coarseness from the collection of coarse-appearing particles. The subtle momentary nature is empty of permanence. Therefore, it should be understood that dependent origination appears but is without inherent existence, and is merely a clear appearance. Appearing to arise and so on is the nature of emptiness. Nagarjuna said: "If not empty, there is nothing at all." And: "You said that all births, Are like illusory births." Appearing to arise is the basis

It appears like a dream by holding the aspect of non-existence clearly. As it is said in the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra: When things are not existent, their non-existence appears as false. Without touching the object to be examined, one does not grasp its non-existence. For example, when a child dies in a dream, the thought that it does not exist is an obstacle to the appearance of its existence, and that is also false. Thus. The reasoning of neither permanence nor destruction: Apparent phenomena, are not real, because they are neither destroyed nor not destroyed. If it is destroyed, when does the pot get destroyed? Does it get destroyed when it exists, or when it does not exist? It is not reasonable to be destroyed when it exists, because the meaning of destruction is that existence turns into non-existence, which contradicts this. It is not reasonable to be destroyed when it does not exist, because existence and non-existence are not the same thing, so the fault of destruction not being established occurs. It is not not destroyed, because moments and particle changes, and time changes appear. Therefore, it is not reasonable for one thing to have both existence and non-existence, so it is not established. As it is said in the Fundamental Wisdom: If something temporarily exists, then cessation is not reasonable. What is the reason for something and the non-existence of something in one? For something that becomes non-existent, destruction is also not reasonable. Thus. The reasoning of change and no change: Apparent phenomena, are not real, because they are neither changing nor unchanging. Does that thing change to another state, or does it not change? If it changes, then the old should also become young, because it is the state of change. Also, there is no change in permanence, and if it is impermanent, it ceases when it seems to change, so change is not established. There is also no cause for change, because it is prevented by analyzing the parts. If it does not change, then the fault of the young not being able to become old occurs. Because that and other are not established, there is also no change. As it is said in the Fundamental Wisdom: There is no other change in that self, and it is not in the other self. Why does the young not age, why does the old not age. Thus. Also, it is not established in its own time, the young are not old, because old age and things are contradictory. Likewise, the old do not age, because the agent and object are contradictory in the moment of old age itself, and the already old is also meaningless.
