Therefore, because illusion arises and ceases." "Because of the appearance of horses and cattle being born in an instant from mantras, wooden pieces, pebbles, etc., it is like destruction. Secondly, the characteristic of illusion is not established. If measured by ultimate reasoning, and examined and analyzed by time, encounter, continuity, and instant, no dharma is established. If it is not true in the nature of illusion, but illusion is true in illusion, can reason not refute it? The very acceptance in reality is the acceptance of being able to withstand examination. Because it is not established by atoms, etc., illusion is not established in reality, so it should not be accepted. The Buddha's intention is not ultimate. In the Sutra Requested by Brahma Viseṣacitta, it is said: 'If falsehood or truth is found in the teachings, it will become an adherent of views, and there will be no difference from heretics.' So it is said. In the Compendium, it is said: 'How is the sky seen? Examine this meaning.' So it is said. In the Ratnakūṭa Sūtra, it is said: 'Monks, the ultimate truth is one, the undeceptive dharma is nirvāṇa. All conditioned things are false and deceptive in nature.' So it is said. The teacher also said in the Root Verses on the Middle Way that he has transcended the nature of both illusion and non-illusion: 'All conditioned things are deceptive dharmas, therefore they are said to be false.' So it is said. Āryadeva also said in the Four Hundred Verses: 'What does not accept existence, non-existence, and existence-non-existence, even for a long time, no one can make a dispute.' So it is. Therefore, there is neither truth nor falsehood in nature. Furthermore, some, such as the teacher Śrīgupta, say that illusion is not the ultimate truth. How it appears is true in appearance because it arises from conditions in conventional truth, but nothing is established in ultimate truth. As it is said in the Sutra on the Two Truths of the Noble One: 'In conventional truth, it is the nature of things; in ultimate truth, nothing is perceived.' Also, in the Mother Sutra, it is said: 'In ultimate truth, nothing is completely established.' So it is said. In conventional truth, it is not emptiness because it can perform functions, so it is true in the respective objects of the senses. In ultimate truth, it is emptiness because nothing is established. This is how they assert it. Reason is also of ultimate

Because examining the nature is permissible, but examining the characteristics of conventional truth is not, these are contradictory. Since truth and falsehood cannot be one, they are not the subject and its property. If so, just as conventional truth is impermanent, would the nature of conventional truth, the ultimate truth, also become impermanent? Or, just as the nature of ultimate truth is without arising and ceasing, would conventional truth also not arise and cease? Therefore, all the various appearances are conventional. True conventional truth, like a single moon, does not deceive its own nature; false conventional truth, like the appearance of two moons, deceives its own nature, thus distinguishing them. Since ultimate truth is not established in any way, there is no distinction. Therefore, the two truths are not phenomena that are contained within one entity, so they cannot be called the "property of a subject." Because the appearance of inherent existence is conventional, it is the subject; and emptiness is the property of ultimate truth, established in dependence on each other. This is the statement. To refute this, there are three points: impossibility, inconceivability, and no opportunity. The first is that emptiness that is not an appearance is impossible in both truths, because if it does not appear to anyone, it is without form, and form does not exist even in conventional truth, just like blocking space. The second is that because it is not possible as an object of examination, it is also not possible as an object of thought. If it is the nature of knowing, speaking, and measuring, it will become false. If it is not the nature of these, it is impossible, so it cannot be realized. Merely realizing all appearances as empty does not eliminate obscurations, and holding to differences is not suitable as an antidote, just as knowing that space is empty does not help when anger arises towards an enemy. By clinging to the false basis of appearance as true, and separately realizing emptiness, it is of no benefit whatsoever, so that realization is unnecessary. The third is that the opportunity for emptiness to exist is also impossible to find, because space pervades as the extent of its appearance, so there is no opportunity from any direction where appearance does not exist. It is also impossible to realize through knowledge, because it can never be found from mental appearance, either conceptual or non-conceptual. And the object of thought is also the mental appearance of the thinker. Therefore, an ultimate truth that is different from conventional truth is unreasonable. In the Mind Commentary, it says: Separate from conventional truth
