The essence of that great being is that all phenomena are without inherent existence, and that the two accumulations of merit and wisdom are accumulated over countless eons, and that the nature of benefiting others arises from the fruition of enlightenment, although there is no difference. However, the great scholars who lead the supreme chariot of the scriptures have different names such as Cittamātra, Svātantrika, and Prāsaṅgika due to slight differences in the way they interpret the meaning of the scriptures. From the meaning of these treatises, the meaning of the Buddha is gathered. Among them, the first to be explained is the Yogācāra Cittamātra. The Cittamātra believes that consciousness is the ultimate truth. From the order of the two ways of general and specific characteristics, there are common manifestations of self-illuminating wisdom, as well as parikalpita, paratantra, pariniṣpanna, etc. On this, the great scholar Vasubandhu and his followers also believe that all the Buddha's intentions are Cittamātra, so they do not think that other schools are established. In the commentary of the Laghupramāṇavṛtti, it says: "The root of benefiting beings is Vasubandhu, who mainly focuses on his own school, relies on what is known within, and truly liberates." Like this. This treatise generally describes and separately explains the tenets of Cittamātra, divided into two types. The first has three: the proposition, the proof, and the conclusion. The first is that the consciousness that is free from the duality of grasper and grasped is considered to be self-aware and self-illuminating ultimate truth. In the Pramāṇaviniścaya, it says: "The mind does not have other things to experience, and its experience is not done by others, because there is no duality of grasper and grasped, therefore it is self-luminous in this way." And in the commentary of the Thirty Verses, it says: "If consciousness, like what is known, is also conventional truth, and not ultimate truth, then these statements are unreasonable. Because conventional truth without a basis is not established, therefore there is no thing in conventional truth." On this, among the two, grasper and grasped, there is a grasper but no grasped, which is also acknowledged by the Pratyekabuddha. If both are absent, then it will be the same as those who speak of emptiness, so what should be done? Answer: Although objects such as form and the mind that grasps them are both absent, because it is considered to be self-aware and self-illuminating that experiences the absence of duality, it is different from the school of emptiness and the Pratyekabuddha. Moreover, since what is grasped is false, the mind that grasps it is also false.

Therefore, it is not established in the ultimate sense, because if there is no object to be grasped, there is no grasping. That is why. The second proof is that the appearance of external objects is not a different reality, because even in a single cup of water, the appearances of the six types of beings are seen differently. This is merely due to the habits of one's own karma and habitual confused mind becoming stable. As it is said: Although the object is one, minds are different, therefore it is seen as not established. And as it says in the Lankavatara Sutra: Meaning is not existent, it is only mind, seeing external objects is inverted. Other's power is existent, completely imputed is non-existent, discrimination at the extremes of exaggeration and denigration will be destroyed. And as it says in the Avatamsaka Sutra: Sons of the Victorious Ones, these three realms are only mind. That is, the knowledge of the habit of appearing as an external object increases and appears as an external object, and the inner knowledge is established as dependent on the part of grasping. Therefore, the external object is not established as different, because it appears to be the cause of each separate consciousness. Furthermore, the part that appears as blue, etc., is not a substance other than mind, because it is certain that it is perceived together with the grasping consciousness. In the Pramanavarttika it says: Because it is certain that it is perceived together, ༼༡༽Blue and that mind are not different. The existence of the alaya is established by the fact that the six aggregates cease and are reborn, because if there is no alaya, the six aggregates will cease. If there is no other consciousness than that, it is impossible to be reborn again. The afflicted mind is also present, because there is unmixed ignorance, because there is a co-existing condition of the mind's nominal consciousness, and because there is always arrogance in the form of self. The six aggregates of consciousness are established by being accepted in common, so there are eight consciousnesses. Third, there are three meanings of establishment: the object of focus, the nature of practice, and the fruit of establishment. There are three objects: the basis of fortune - lineage, the basis of view - the five bases, and the basis of meditation - selflessness. The first is that sentient beings have five lineages: Hearer lineage, Solitary Buddha lineage, Bodhisattva lineage, Undetermined lineage, and Severed lineage. The first is the beginning.
