and blocking all views that hold that objects of knowledge appear or do not appear through parts. All of these have been explained, including the refutation of the Śrāvakayāna view. Now, regarding the way to refute the views of the Pratyekabuddhas, including: Pratyekabuddhas also correctly realize the object of observation solely through the door of dependent origination, but this is also different from the Mahāyāna. Those of lesser vehicle with sharp faculties, who are qualified to be intermediate Buddhas through the door of the arising and ceasing of dependent origination, are not abiding on the ultimate ground, and therefore are placed outside the supreme vehicle. Here, if we differentiate its established tenets, there are three: the object of observation, the nature of conduct, and the result of accomplishment. Regarding the object, there are three: lineage, view, and dependent origination. Lineage is: not the lineage of Śrāvakas and Bodhisattvas, but becoming those with intermediate faculties. As stated in the Compendium of Topics: "The person of the Śrāvakayāna, the Pratyekabuddhayāna, and the Mahāyāna." It is the intermediate one between these three. The view is: although they do not accept the self of a person and the external grasped as atoms, they have not abandoned the momentary grasping consciousness that apprehends the false appearance of objects. As stated in the Ornament for Clear Realization: "In order to abandon the conceptualization of the object grasped, and because the grasper is not abandoned, the path like a rhinoceros horn through dependence, should be known as the truly collected." Dependent origination: should be understood through five ways: classification, essence, aspect, how many lifetimes to complete, and the way of practice. Classification has external dependent origination and internal dependent origination. External is relying on seeds to produce sprouts and so on. Internal is the twelve links arising from ignorance up to old age and death. Regarding the essence of each, ignorance generally refers to not knowing the knowable, but here, in order to accomplish this life, the afflictions of the previous life are regarded as ignorance relative to this life. Action generally refers to a cause producing a result, but here it refers to the actions prior to the accomplishment of this life. Consciousness generally refers to merely knowing the meaning of an object, but here it refers to the five aggregates that first enter the womb. Name and form generally refer to the four name aggregates and the form aggregate, but here it refers to the five aggregates after entering the womb, up until the eyes and other organs have not yet formed. The six sense sources generally refer to the eyes and so on, but here it

From the appearance of the eyes onwards, up to the point of being unable to perceive smells, tastes, and tactile sensations. Contact, in general, refers to the mere aggregation of object, faculty, and consciousness, but here it refers to grasping the object that is the cause of pleasure and pain, up to the point where actual pleasure and pain have not arisen. This is a short period of time. Feeling, in general, refers to experience, but here it refers to the pleasure and pain from experiencing coarse pleasure and pain in the womb onwards, up to the point of being unable to engage in sexual activity. Craving, in general, refers to attachment, but here it refers to the period from being able to engage in sexual activity onwards, up to the point of having no desire to seek wealth, women, or men, which is a short period of time. Grasping, in general, refers to desire and attachment, but here it refers to the period of searching for the object of craving and not finding it. Existence, in general, refers to all actions, but here it refers to accumulating the actions that accomplish the next life by finding and enjoying that object, up to the point just before death. Birth, in general, refers to all births arising from causes, but here it refers to the moment of entering the womb in the next life by the power of that action. Aging and death, in general, refer to tending towards decay and all decay, but here it refers to everything from entering that womb up to the completion of the four: name, form, the six sense bases, contact, and feeling in the next life. From that existence onwards, it is the beginning of other dependent arisings. The Abhidharmakosha says: Ignorance and so forth are the former state, actions are the actions of the former life, consciousness is the aggregate connecting the continuum, name and form are after that, the six sense bases are up to arising, that is the aggregation of the three, contact is of pleasure and pain and so forth, the ability to know the cause is up to, feeling is up to sexual activity, craving is having attachment to enjoying sexual activity, grasping is running around to obtain enjoyments, that existence is the action that produces the fruit, connecting the continuum is birth, up to feeling is aging and death, in order to dispel ignorance about the former, later, and intermediate times. Thus it says. The classification is: These twelve branches can be summarized into three: action, affliction, and suffering. Ignorance, craving, and grasping are the three afflictions. Action and existence are the two actions. Consciousness and the remaining seven are suffering. Nagarjuna said ༼༡༽The first eight
