When the mind abides in a state where neither one nor many exist, it abides in the inconceivable wisdom of the Dharmata's sky-like form. At that time, the father's luminosity dawns, while the mother's non-conceptual bliss remains for a moment. This is proclaimed by all perfectly accomplished great yogis as the essence of skillful means, being the path of a few fortunate ones, but not of all, because they have not gained control over the winds and mind without leakage. In particular, it should not be practiced with celibacy, as one would be stained by defeat. As the Lamp for the Path says, "The secret wisdom empowerment should not be taken with celibacy." Combining Sutra and Tantra methods harmoniously: In Sutras and Shastras, by holding the mind on the support of wind and external objects, the accomplishment of Shamatha and Vipassana is taught to be the same as this. Some might think that because externalists also have channels and winds, this path is inferior. However, in Sutras and Shastras of both the Great and Small Vehicles, such as the Heart of the Sun Sutra and the Treasury, meditating on wind as an antidote to conceptual thought, thereby giving rise to Samadhi, would that also become inferior? Therefore, Sutra and Tantra are in complete agreement on the method of generating Samadhi, and there is no contradiction. Now, introducing the self-luminous, co-emergent wisdom that is accomplished through that method, which is the very manifestation within oneself: The Vipassana wisdom accomplished through that method is: In that state of clarity and bliss, dwelling and not dwelling, being and non-being, being and not being, the radiance that transcends expression and speech, self-awareness, free from elaboration, clear and bright, vast and without limit, like the sky. Clear and bright, unwavering, like the disc of the sun and moon. Free from the turbidity of all conceptual thoughts, like the ocean. Self-born wisdom, the luminosity of mind itself. The Dharmakaya introduced by the holy ones, is co-emergent and should be constantly meditated upon. Our holy Lama, the glorious and precious Lord of Dharma, holds this to be the wisdom of the four Mudras of Mahamudra: Previously, at the time of wind, the clear awareness is non-conceptual, and at the time of Bindu, the blissful awareness is clear. In those two states, when one gazes intently at one's own awareness, even the state of bliss-clarity-non-conceptuality does not remain. In the essence of clarity-emptiness-self-awareness, there is no being or not being, existence or non-existence. It cannot be illustrated by examples, it is the meaning that transcends thought and speech, it is the self-arisen Buddha.

Self-awareness, clear and unwavering, is like the ocean. Clear and without discrimination, it is like the disc of the sun and moon. Without limit or bias, it is like the expanse of the vast sky. That self-awareness, in which the elaborations of mind and mental events are pacified, is introduced as the Dharmakaya Mahamudra, the self-arisen wisdom, and also as the essence of the Great Perfection, the Great Madhyamaka, the Six-Branch Yoga, the nature of the Path with its Fruit, the Pacifier that pacifies all elaborations, and the Prajnaparamita of the meaning of reality. So it is said. I, too, have a little experience of this meaning. It is good to see that it is so in the Sutras and Tantras. The Guhyasamaja Tantra says: 'Non-meditation is actual meditation. Meditation itself is not meditation. Thus, with existence and non-existence, meditation has no object.' So it is said. The Inconceivable Order says: 'The distinctions of permanence and annihilation are seen as non-dual in the true meaning. Existence and emptiness are meditated upon as equal and non-dual. Conventional and ultimate are different, transcending two and non-two. Method and wisdom, great yoga, are said to be of one taste, non-dual. The rain of wisdom, the self-nature of no self-nature, truly abides.' So it is said. The Secret Accomplishment says: 'The goddess of wisdom is supreme. This is called the Far Shore. If you know and meditate, you will be liberated from all beings.' So it is said. The Inconceivable Order says: 'The self-nature is completely pure and undefiled. What is the non-dual meaning? Unborn and fearless, that is the nature of the Great Seal.' So it is said. The Accomplishment of Wisdom says: 'It is called Samantabhadra, and it is also called the Great Seal. It is called Mirror Wisdom, and this should be known as the Dharmakaya.' So it is said. The Precious Wheel says: 'Wisdom without a basis is the view of self-nature purity.' So it is said. The Chakrasamvara says: 'Because what is existent and non-existent is the meaning of luminosity, free from elaboration, it should be known as co-emergent.' So it is said. The Sutra of the Ornament of Wisdom Light says: 'Not examined by complete thought, the mind that does not abide anywhere, without memory and without attention, I prostrate and bow to that which has no object.'
