Abandon the mind of harming and violence, and the mind of arrogance. Abandon holding contradictory actions and the mind of disbelief. Abandon the minds of greed, harm, and wrong views. Towards the true and virtuous spiritual friend, do not disbelieve in your heart, do not be angry, do not examine what faults there might be, do not despise them for their low birth, appearance, or possessions, do not harbor competitive thoughts, and towards them and those who live near them, do not have harmful thoughts, violence, anger, and do not think of refuting them with arrogance. Towards the guru's wealth and possessions, do not have greed, harmful thoughts, and do not think badly of them with wrong views. Do not hold contradictory views towards any actions, and do not regard them as faults or wrong views. The guru benefits beings by acting in accordance with their needs through body, speech, and mind, so it can happen in any way. Briefly, it can be summarized as appearing in four stages through the power of the four actions. Among them, those who are tamed by peaceful means are well-advised with a more peaceful appearance of body, speech, and mind, and are shown pleasant words and so on. For those who are gathered by generosity, they give away possessions without attachment and show the excellence of generosity. If they are tamed by power, they gather beings and connect them to the Dharma. For those who are tamed by force, they show beatings, assaults, intimidation, threats, and many contradictory harsh words. By nature, the guru is, all of the Vajra family are peaceful, so body, speech, and mind appear peaceful. The Ratna family is rich with elegant clothes, jewels, and possessions. The Padma family tames beings and is with the consort. Those of the Karma family are fierce in body, speech, and mind, so they appear fierce and cruel, and they are not necessarily one form for the sake of taming beings. Therefore, serve them with pure appearance and great devotion. The holy ones always benefit others by nature, so they protect in any way. The appearance of the body is not necessarily the same, and the speech is also not necessarily the same, such as gentle and harsh. Although it appears as a fault, it should not be considered a fault, because their intention is unknown. Therefore, do not think that this guru is very greedy for wealth, has great desire, has great greed, or has great anger and cruelty.

Do not think of them as being foolish, do not think of them as having coarse afflictions, do not think of them as being very stingy, do not think of them as having great pride, do not think of them as being with a woman, do not think of them as having an ugly race and appearance, do not think of them as not knowing anything, and so on. Because you do not have direct perception, you cannot understand their intentions. In particular, do not think that they do not have any qualities of the path, and do not think that they do not possess the qualities of a Buddha. Because the secrets of body, speech, and mind are extremely hidden, they are not visible, and because of your own obscurations, they are not visible to be seen. The actual manifestation of all qualities requires the purification of karma. In general, such actual manifestations of qualities become impossible to indicate because they do not match your own field of experience. From the samadhi of the present manifest Buddha, it is said that if one harbors resentment, quarrels, or dwells with hatred towards the Dharma speaker, or does not generate the thought of the teacher Buddha, then it is impossible to attain their qualities. It is impossible to attain the Dharma that has not been attained, or not to waste what has been attained. Because of disrespect, the Dharma will perish. Also, as it says in the Tantra of Secret Entering into Equality: 'By having a competitive mind towards the gurus, and abandoning the deity of the victorious ones, it is like riding a lame donkey around a lake, it is impossible to achieve the Buddhahood of the victorious ones. By being greedy for the guru's wealth, one will dwell in the preta realm for two kalpas.' Also, as it says in the Tantra of the Army Completely Averting: 'The guru and his retinue, reviling with anger, quarreling, and denouncing, will be tormented in the hell of uninterrupted suffering for as many kalpas as there are dust particles in a field.' Also, as it says from generating the Army of Bodhi Bliss: 'One must not slander the Vajra Guru, one must not think that they possess the five (afflictions) such as desire and hatred. Thinking that, one will be burned in the ground of the Hell of Uninterrupted Suffering.' Also, as it says in the Ocean of Scriptures: 'For the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel King, if one thinks of them as being greedy for food, drink, and wealth, one will be tormented in the hells of the ten directions. For the King who speaks the Secret Supreme, from the mind gate of the knowledgeable, one must not think of them as having great pride. That fault will cause one to fall into a place of strife.' Also, as it says in the Tantra of the Gathering of Many: 'By thinking of dwelling in my kindness, one will also be born in the Hell of Uninterrupted Suffering. Whoever thinks of the faults of the teacher, the accumulated merit will become meaningless, because one has abandoned the deities, one will be harmed by nagas, malevolent spirits, and so on.'
