In the "Liberation Story of the Noble Ever Weeping" and the "Arrayed Tree Sutra," as well as in the "Norbzang's Liberation Story" and the "Wise and Foolish Sutra," one should remember how, for the sake of the Dharma, the king offered a thousand lamps erected on his own body, enduring many hardships to seek a virtuous spiritual friend. Thinking, "Why should I not seek?" one should seek a true lama. If they possess all the characteristics described in the scriptures, even if there are some or many faults in terms of worldly lineage, possessions, and personality, one should rely on them. In particular, a virtuous spiritual friend, because they are without deceit or pretense, their thoughts and words are consistent, and their foundation is deep, may appear somewhat difficult to associate with. Therefore, one must rely on them with patience and endurance. As stated in the "Gongdu Sutra": Even if they have worldly faults, If the craftsman is skilled in the path, No matter how difficult it is to endure, Everything, everything must be endured. So it is said. Having found a true and excellent virtuous spiritual friend, one should rely on them without weariness. To accomplish great things, extend great patience and respect. In this way, true lamas, when assessing the capacity of their disciples, first engage in examination and analysis. To those who are stingy, they show a great desire for possessions; to those who are unwilling to give, they also regard possessions as a part of perfecting the two accumulations. Similarly, to those who are impatient, they speak unpleasant words; to those who consider themselves poor and narrow-minded, they show that they are doing many things and accomplishing long-term goals. In short, although the nature of their body, speech, and mind is without confusion or falsehood, they continuously display various contradictions. Therefore, without examining their body and speech, there is no connection, and their mind appears confused. Thus, they discern whether the other person's faith is firm or wavering. That is to say, the noble lamas with profound wisdom are never measured by others. Although their conduct is diverse, it is only to tame beings. For their intention does not go beyond the profound Dharma nature of emptiness and the mind of enlightenment. Therefore, whatever the lama's actions, one should understand them as a manifestation of great intention, thereby generating pure perception. Not slightly

It is also inconceivable, because the dependent arising of the path would be mistaken. Whether the action is peaceful or wrathful, benefiting others is the nature of noble beings, because it is the time when the benefit of others arises after one's own benefit has been accomplished. Therefore, there is no other way to accomplish the great matter of liberation than the lama who is the guide. Whatever difficult things the lama does, one must endure them and practice with patience, just as worldly affairs must also be accomplished by enduring difficulties. Seeking the path of liberation and relying on a lama, at that time there will be many unfavorable conditions. When discouragement, turning away, and many thoughts arise, one should recognize them as demonic obstacles, and then again with great reverence, like a treasure that has been found, one should not abandon it but hold it on the crown of one's head. When a sublime lama is found, at that time the evil demon will strive to create obstacles, and in any way possible will create discord between the master and disciple, making food, lodging, and favorable conditions difficult, and there will be many obstacles on the path, and because of the fear of immediate harm, one will become discouraged, and one will have wrong views about the lama and the Dharma, thus causing many thoughts of turning away to arise. One should recognize this as a demonic obstacle that hinders one's own liberation and abandon it, and then again rely on the lama with great reverence. The Intermediate Mother Sutra says: Just as a precious jewel, because it has many enemies, must be cherished with great effort and enthusiasm, so too, when seeking the precious jewel of the Perfection of Wisdom, the evil demon will strive to create obstacles, and in any way possible will prevent it from being heard, and will create various harms that cause one to be separated from the virtuous friend, thus causing the mind to turn away. At that time, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva will think: The evil demons will obstruct the side of virtue, and in any way possible one must not be controlled by them, one must do this, and then put on great armor. That is to say, one should think of the kindness of the lama who is the helmsman of liberation, and strive to please him. Just as clear water can reflect images, like a flawless jewel. By removing the obscuring impurities, the image of qualities can be shown. Mineral.
