My great steadfast fort. The supreme physician who cures the chronic diseases of samsara. The one who bestows the precious jewels of the island. The master is the venerable lama. It is necessary to know this beforehand. It is said, etc. The meaning of those is also: Among the supreme qualities as described, A lama who possesses all qualities is like an udumbara flower. One who possesses most of them is like a Buddha. One who possesses only six qualities can also be relied upon. Because it is very difficult to find in this degenerate age, One should rely on them with great reverence. It is difficult to find one who possesses all the qualities as described, like the king of flowers, the udumbara. One who possesses most of the qualities is equal to a Buddha. One who possesses six qualities should be regarded as sacred and relied upon. Among them, one should rely mainly on those who are skilled in the path. The Sutra of the Collection of Precious Qualities says: Always rely on the wise lamas. Why? Because the qualities of the wise arise from them. There are six reasons for advising to rely on such a venerable lama without separation. First, since there is no other place to ask for advice on achieving ultimate happiness and enlightenment than the lama, it is also advised to rely on the lama: Always rely on them without separation. The ultimate intention, the profound path of liberation, No one other than the lama can show. Therefore, always rely on the lama. In this world, even kings, ministers, leaders, parents, etc., who are known to be skilled in decision-making, cannot show the intention. In this life, happiness is achieved and the path of liberation is grasped. In the next life, happiness is achieved and the path of enlightenment is ascended. The ultimate happiness, the good intention of accomplishing the benefit of both oneself and others, can only be shown by the venerable lama, so one should rely on him. The Arrangement of Trees says: Virtuous friends are those who save from the lower realms. Those who bestow happiness. Those who lead to the path of enlightenment. Those who realize the equality of Dharma. Those who show the path of happiness and unhappiness. Those who increase all my white Dharma. It is said, etc. The Gongdü says: For those who wander in darkness here, The one who shows the path of great bliss and light, Other than that great protector, the lama, No one else can protect.

. It is said. Secondly, it is only the Lama who can point out what to adopt and what to abandon, so it is worthy of being relied upon. He points out the profound essence of abandoning virtue and vice, cures the suffering of disease, dispels the darkness of ignorance, opens the eye of wisdom, and illuminates the path of liberation. There is no other than the Lama, so always rely on him. The goals of what to adopt and what to abandon, which even parents and others cannot point out, such as doing good, abandoning evil, eliminating suffering, eliminating ignorance, generating wisdom, illuminating wisdom, and opening the eyes, can be done by the Lama, so it is reasonable to rely on him. As it is said in the Ornament of the Tree: A virtuous friend shows all things that should and should not be done, abandons the abodes of the world, averts all places of sin and carelessness, purifies all obscurations, liberates from the city of samsara, cuts the net of Mara, dispels the darkness of ignorance, cuts the bonds of views, extracts the thorns of suffering, dispels the darkness of ignorance, liberates from the river of existence, extracts from the mud of desire, shows the path of the Bodhisattva, abides in the Yidam, establishes diligence, shows the path of liberation, generates great compassion, trains the eye of wisdom, develops the mind of enlightenment, shows the conduct of the Bodhisattva, shows the instructions of the Paramitas, establishes in the position of the ten Bhumis, and causes to abide in all the Buddha's teachings. Furthermore, as it is said in the Magical Net Tantra ༼1༽: The great treasure of precious qualities, shows all without exception, cuts off all afflictions without exception, and enables one to attain the supreme fruit. To the king who has power over the country, one should pay extremely superior respect. More than to the parents who gave birth to the body with kindness, one should treat with extremely caring love. It is said. Thirdly, the attainment of enlightenment depends on the two accumulations, and there is no object of merit greater than the Lama, so it is also worthy of being relied upon. Therefore, the attainment of liberation also depends on the completion of the two accumulations, and there is no basis for it greater than the Lama. Since there is none in all the worlds including the gods, one should always rely on this supreme field with respect. The reason for establishing the interdependent relationship is as follows: Supreme liberation follows the two accumulations.
