It is said that it is not permissible for the self or the actual mind to use what is seen and heard in its own way. Therefore, it is said that what appears in the mind is determined by the person. All appearances are only a mixture of the images of mind and object in the mind. What appears as awareness is not the mind, and what appears as a vase, etc., is not the object. The two, object and consciousness, are hidden, as it was said before: In the mind of one who has courage, or the image of a person arises, and likewise, after being completely transformed, it follows the mind. Thus it is said. From that, there arise the ego that is born of suffering, and the ego that is changing, and the ego that is dark, although it is said that there are three egos, they are counted as one ego. From the ego that is born of suffering, eleven faculties arise. From the ego of change, five tanmatras arise. From the five tanmatras, five elements arise, that is, from sound, space arises; from form, fire arises; from smell, earth arises; from taste, water arises; from touch, wind arises. The ego of darkness is a companion to the arising of those two, and does not produce a separate result. The Black Lord of Power says: From nature arises the great, from that arises ego, from that arise sixteen characteristics. Thus sixteen arise, and from that, from the five tanmatras, five kinds arise. That is to say, the things that are born are not newly created from nothing, but are already present in the nature of the principal, so it is called the effect existing in the cause, because the effects all follow the nature of the cause, follow the ability, and because the effect is born from the cause. That is to say, the effect follows the nature of the cause, just as phelts follow the nature of wool, and gold vases follow the nature of gold. Following the ability is like the bitterness of bile, the sweetness of brown sugar, the shadow arising from an iron vase, and not arising from a glass vase. Because it is born from the cause, it exists, and it cannot be newly created from nothing, just as the moon is originally round, so there is the waxing and waning of the moon, just as butter does not arise from sand. From clay, a vase is produced, and there is also the fault of not needing a potter.

No, in the time of clay, the vase is already present and becomes clear, just as a vase in a dark place becomes clear due to the light of a lamp." "No. There is no fault of seeing the vase in the clay, because even though things exist, they are not perceived by two causes. As the Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning says: "Too far and too near, impaired senses and inattention, minuteness and being obscured, being overwhelmed and being mixed." Therefore, there are two causes why something exists but is not clearly seen. Generally, being too far away makes it invisible, like the movement of the sun and moon. Being too close makes it invisible, like the eye being obscured. Impaired senses make it invisible, like a blind person not seeing forms. Inattention makes it invisible, like the surroundings when one is asleep. Being minute makes it invisible, like fine particles of flour. Being obscured makes it invisible, like the internal organs of the body. Being overwhelmed makes it invisible, like stars during the day. Being mixed makes it invisible, like particles of milk when blood and milk are mixed. Among these, the vase in the clay is also unseen because the power of the cause overwhelms the result. The destruction of things is also unclear because the manifestation dissolves into the eon or the primary cause, like livestock being put into a pen, but it is not a destruction where existence completely disappears. In short, things are neither newly born from non-existence, nor do they completely perish from existence, but their nature is constant and their state changes. Emerging from the primary cause and dissolving into the primary cause is like the state of sheep, wool, felt, coarse cloth, sand, and dust, which become invisible when they become one with the primary cause and are therefore unseen. The beginning is also the nature of the primary cause, the finest particle. Although it appears clearly through the transformation of states, in the end, it does not change from its original nature. Similarly, the one who enjoys the twenty-four—the senses, objects, and elements—is called the "self" or "person," who is the knower, the permanent, the solitary, the non-agent, and the enjoyer, possessing five qualities. As it says in Engaging in the Bodhisattva's Deeds: "The enjoyer, the permanent, the real, the non-agent self." "Qualities
