And, since luminosity and ultimate truth are inseparable, Samsara and Nirvana are non-dual, and truth is undifferentiated. Although it appears this way, Samsara is not established, it is without inherent existence, and it is the ultimate truth of the Dharmadhatu. Since there is no Dharma that can differentiate between them, it is taught that Samsara and Nirvana are undifferentiated and equal. Thoughts that deviate from this are a great delusion regarding the meaning of reality. In the appearance of delusion, cause and effect exist, therefore, it is crucial to know what to accept and reject in terms of virtue and vice. The unchanging nature of ultimate truth is the spontaneously present essence of luminosity, the Sugata-garbha, the indivisible Dharmata of emptiness and clarity. This is the spontaneously present Mandala of self-nature, possessing the essence of primordial perfection, the Bodhicitta. Pure, free from elaboration, free from all partiality, the profound and peaceful Dharmakaya and Jnana are inseparable. This is an example that all beings possess, like a treasure under the ground, a lamp inside a vase, and a statue inside a lotus, which the wise should understand. Just as a poor person has a precious treasure under the ground, but remains impoverished because they do not know they possess it, although the spontaneously present Buddha exists within oneself, the body, speech, and mind, along with the eight consciousnesses, are obscured by earth, and one constantly suffers from the poverty of cyclic existence. Therefore, someone with divine vision sees it and teaches the method of extracting the treasure, and by extracting it, one obtains the wealth of self-nature in its fullness. Thus, the holy ones reveal the true nature, and by practicing accordingly, one finds the Buddha within oneself. The perfection of both aims becomes a wish-fulfilling jewel. Just as a lamp inside a vase is luminous, but is obscured by the vase and not visible outside, although the Dharmakaya of the essence abides within oneself, it is not visible because it is obscured by the vase of obscurations. Therefore, just as light appears when the vase is broken, so too, when one is free from the obscurations of the grounds, the lamp of the world will illuminate everything. Just as there is a Sugata's body inside a lotus , but it is not visible outside because it is covered by the lotus, similarly, one cannot see the self-luminous Lord of Conquerors because one is obscured by the thousand petals of grasping and being grasped. When the petals open and become clear, in the same way, when one is liberated from the deluded petals of grasping and being grasped, the three Kayas of enlightenment will appear within oneself. Therefore, the luminosity of the Dharmadhatu, the ultimate truth, should be known as the reality that exists within oneself. Giving this a name

It has many names. Because samsara and nirvana arise from it, it is called the "dhatu." Because it has existed from the beginning, it is called "self-arisen nature." Because it is obscured by defilements, it is called the "essence of the heart." Because it is the way things are, it is called the "ultimate truth." Because it has been pure from the beginning, it is called "radiant, immaculate nature." Because it eliminates the extremes of existence, it is called the "nature of the Middle Way." Because it transcends conceptual elaboration, it is called the "Perfection of Wisdom." It is the indivisibility of emptiness, clarity, perfect purity, and truth. Because it is immutable, it is called "suchness, the nature of reality." Thus, those with eyes, the wise ones, assert. Those who do not understand this principle, nihilists who cling to emptiness, may speak of being beyond existence and non-existence, free from extremes, but because they do not know the basis of freedom from extremes, they are holders of the view of the peak of existence. Because they have become outsiders to this teaching, even if they have the mind of a god and smear themselves with ashes, it is useless. Here, the Teacher spoke of the treasury of the Dharma, the essence of all, the path of the pinnacle of luminosity, which is called the spontaneously accomplished ground, the way things are. By knowing this ultimate view, one is liberated from wrong paths and obscurations, freed from all permanence and annihilation, one's practice becomes meaningful, one quickly attains enlightenment, and one possesses the eye to view all sutras and tantras. Therefore, know the luminous nature of reality. From the Treatise on the Great Vehicle's Key Instructions, The Wish-Fulfilling Treasury, ends the eighteenth chapter, "Establishing the Nature of Reality." Having understood the nature of reality in this way, one should meditate. The initial preliminary practice is to take refuge and generate the mind of enlightenment, and then meditate on the generation stage of outer and inner secret mantra. The object of refuge is the Three Jewels. The causal object is the Three Kayas of the Buddhas who have already appeared in other lineages, endowed with abandonment, realization, and activity. The Dharma is the two truths of cessation and path. The Sangha are the noble bodhisattvas who dwell on the bhumis. One takes refuge in these three as being equal in the present moment. Ultimately, there is only one Dharmakaya of the Buddha, who is the ultimate jewel, the supreme object of refuge. Because the path truth, the conventional truth, and the bodhisattvas have obscurations, there is no ultimate refuge other than the Buddha himself. The refuge of the result is the Three Jewels, which one prays to accomplish within oneself. One makes the refuge of the cause the cause, wishing to accomplish the refuge of the result, the jewels, within one's own lineage. The Buddha is the teacher, the Dharma is the path, and the Sangha
