Turning away from the Dharma, the lamp of the path to liberation will be extinguished. We were not born in those realms, So generate joy and practice the sacred Dharma. When you see just the body of a sentient being like this, Obtaining a human body is like obtaining the status of a Chakravartin (wheel-turning king). Among human bodies, the lineage of Dharma with faith, Is even rarer than that, like attaining Buddhahood. Therefore, always contemplate leisure and endowment. Likewise, born without complete faculties, in a borderland, Without the karma for Dharma, with actions going astray, Not believing in the Dharma, not Dharma but a friend of sin. After thinking about how extremely numerous they are, Not having become those, having obtained this body endowed with Dharma, You must definitely contemplate day and night. Having complete resources for practicing the Dharma well, Also showing the way to awaken white karma, Being born as a human, born in the central region (referring to India), with complete faculties and faith, Actions not going astray, having the correct view, Those are difficult to obtain, are endowed with karma. It is difficult to obtain just by having other resources, effort is also important, The teacher came, taught the Dharma, the Dharma remained and followed, The circumstances of being in harmony with a loving spiritual friend, Are extremely rare, so you must initiate diligence. Illustrating the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment with examples, Like a yoke hole floating in the middle of the ocean, A turtle's neck entering, from the hells, It is difficult to be born as a human, similarly like on a wall, Beans sticking to the wall facing the wall, Even if born as a human, being born in the central region is rare. The Udumbara flower is rare to appear in the world, Therefore, entering the Dharma, encountering the correct path is even rarer. It is also difficult for a needle to pass through silk, Obtaining the path, practicing it properly is even more difficult. Just as it is difficult to find a jewel from ocean islands, It is even more difficult to find a true Lama, Therefore, think about those and practice with diligence. Abandoning meaningless actions and practicing, Except for virtuous deeds that become the cause of liberation, Abandon everything and you must strive in the Dharma . Deluded actions are the cause of meaningless suffering, Useless at the time of death, without essence, therefore, You must definitely abandon it like a poisonous snake. This life's livelihood, friends and discussions, Enjoyment, partiality, bad sects, etc., Wasting leisure and endowment, abandon them like throwing away a corpse. Always with mindfulness and awareness, carefully, Thinking about leisure and endowment, practice the Bodhi of liberation . While walking, sleeping, sitting, and eating, etc.,

Having abandoned the six faults such as laziness, to accomplish the great purpose of higher realms and definite goodness, one should diligently engage in virtue day and night, like a hungry person seeing food. The benefit of this is to abandon this life, and strive for the next life with diligence blazing like fire. Without wasting leisure, spend time in virtue, and quickly cross the ocean of the three realms of samsara. From the treatise on the great vehicle's essential instructions, the Wish-Fulfilling Jewel Treasury, the thirteenth chapter: Thinking about the difficulty of obtaining leisure and fortune. Thus, even if one obtains the difficult-to-obtain leisure and fortune, it is momentary, impermanent, and subject to destruction. The three realms of existence are illusory, and their nature is deceptive. Thus, the outer world, adorned with the wealth of the four continents, is an example of impermanence and destruction. Understand that the body is like a bubble. All beings on this earth now will surely disappear within a hundred years. All men die in succession, contemplate that your own life is heading towards death. At the crossroads of the four markets, in inns, and other places, like people from all directions gathering and dispersing, be sure to think from the bottom of your heart that meeting is separation. Like the example of cities full of enjoyment and wealth becoming empty and disappearing, accumulation will eventually be exhausted, so do not be attached to any wealth, because impermanence has no essence. Like the wealth of a heavenly city manifesting higher realms, but falling into lower realms after death, do not be arrogant and complacent when you have wealth. The changes of the four seasons, inside and outside, and the changes of age, also abandon the clinging to permanence because of the certainty of impermanence and death. Form is a dust particle, time is a moment, impermanent like a flash of lightning in the sky, so quickly practice the sacred Dharma. All kinds of vessels and beings are changing, like illusory water trees, without essence. Therefore, this so-called impermanent samsara, no one can possess, grasp, and take away. Because the four elements are combined, both the outer container and the inner contents are subject to destruction. The city where sentient beings move will eventually grow old. Because it is held by the four sides, there is no permanence. There is no certainty about life, and it is not known when one will die, so one should think from the bottom of one's heart that one will surely die. At the time of death, dwelling and enjoyment, relatives and wealth,
