Know that this is called the place, basis, and support, etc., of all conditioned dharmas. As for "If that exists, then all beings," it is said, "Bhagavan, if there is the Tathagatagarbha, then it is designated as samsara by words." It is said. Nirvana can also be attained, as it is said, "Bhagavan, if there were no Tathagatagarbha, then one would not be disgusted with suffering, and one would not desire, seek, or aspire to Nirvana," as it is extensively said. Like the Dharmakaya, the vast nature that is inseparable from the Tathagata, the nature of the definite lineage, that Tathagatagarbha exists at all times in a manner that is undifferentiated in all. That is to say, one should observe by taking dharmata as a characteristic, as it is said, "Son of lineage, this is the dharmata of all dharmas, whether the Tathagatas appear or do not appear, these sentient beings always have the Tathagatagarbha." As it is said. As it is. It can be known that the lineage exists in sentient beings by knowing that sentient beings desire happiness and do not desire suffering. It can be symbolized that the lineage has awakened by knowing that one is weary of samsara and aspires to liberation. As the Uttaratantra says: If there is no Buddha-nature, One will not be weary of suffering, Nor will there be desire for Nirvana, Nor will there be seeking or aspiration. The faults and virtues of suffering and happiness, Of existence and Nirvana, Why is this seen? Because it is not present in those without lineage. As it is said. The reason for the emptiness of that lineage is that it is obscured by the suddenly arising defiled dharmas that can be distinguished and separated. Because there is no contamination on its own face, it is empty. The emptinesses are empty of time. The emptiness thought of by the mind is inconceivable. It is not empty of the qualities of the dharmas that are undifferentiated and spontaneously accomplished, because the unconditioned nature always abides without change. As it is said: There is nothing to be removed here, There is nothing at all to be established, Look at reality as it is, If you see reality, you are liberated. Having the characteristic of distinction, Suddenly

What realm is emptiness? It has the characteristic of non-differentiation, and is not empty of the unsurpassed Dharma. What does this show? Because in the Tathāgatagarbha, which is completely pure in its nature, there is no characteristic of affliction that can be removed, because being free from adventitious stains is its nature. There is also no reason to establish purification for this, because the nature of non-differentiation is its nature. Therefore, the Tathāgatagarbha is empty, empty of the differentiated, separable, and all afflictive aggregates; and the non-differentiated, inseparable, inconceivable Buddha-dharma, exceeding the sands of the Ganges, is not empty. Thus, what is not there is empty of it, which is truly seen accordingly; and what remains there is always there. Thus, it is known as it is. These two verses show the nature of non-inverted emptiness, in order to be free from the extremes of addition and denial. Thus it is said. This is called the ultimate emptiness. Furthermore, in order to guide other ways, the intermediate teachings show that all dharmas are empty, in order to guide the non-Buddhists who cling to the self of a person, the Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas who cling to the self of dharmas, and the initial Bodhisattvas who cling to things, and who cling to antidotes as superior, towards the Dharma of ultimate emptiness, so emptiness is taught as being like space. It means that the self-luminous nature of mind is the ultimate emptiness. The purpose is to separate individual attachments. What harms things is: having the characteristic of non-differentiation, it is not empty of the unsurpassed Dharma. And in the commentary on the Uttaratantra, it says: For this, emptiness is mental distraction, which is spoken to the Bodhisattvas who have newly and correctly entered the Mahāyāna, or from the perspective of emptiness, to the equals of the Tathāgatagarbha. And in the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra, it says: I have spoken of three natures without essence.
