Just as thoroughly separating from defilement. The great sage, with his all-knowing eyes, saw this lineage realm, which is like honey, and the obscurations upon it, which are like bees, and thus completely abandoned them. So it is. The third analogy is: Just as the essence of grain with husks, which people cannot enjoy, those who seek unclean food, just as they extract it from the husks. Similarly, the afflictions that beings possess, mixed with impurities, as long as the Victorious One is not liberated from the mixture of afflictions and impurities, then the Victorious One will not act in the three realms. So it is. The fourth analogy is: Just as the gold of a very wealthy person, having fallen into decaying filth, that fearless Dharma nature is there, abiding there for many years. The gods, endowed with pure divine eyes, see it and say to the person: 'Here is gold, the supreme jewel, it should be refined, and accomplished with jewels.' Similarly, the Thus-gone One, seeing beings sunk in afflictions like unclean things, in order to remove those muds of affliction, pours down the great rain of the sacred Dharma upon beings. So it is. The fifth analogy is: Just as in the house of a poor person, under the ground, there is an inexhaustible treasure, but that person does not know it, and the treasure does not say to him, 'I am here.' Similarly, the precious treasure contained within the mind, the stainless essence, and the non-manifest Dharma nature, because they are not realized, therefore beings constantly experience various kinds of suffering of poverty. So it is. The sixth analogy is: Just as fruits on trees, such as amalaka, etc., containing seeds, sprouts, and fearless Dharma, through trees nourished by fertile soil and impure water, gradually become the objects of a king. Similarly, the Dharma realm of virtue, contained within the skin of the fruits of ignorance, etc., of beings, similarly, virtue, relying on that, gradually transforms into the object of the king of the Able One. So it is. The seventh analogy is: Just as an image of the Victorious One made of jewels, covered with tattered clothes and foul odors, a god passing by on the road, seeing it, in order to liberate it, speaks those words to it on the road. Similarly, that is the unimpeded variety of

The very nature of the Tathagata, obscured by afflictions, is regarded in the same way even for animals. In order to liberate them, he performs expedient deeds. Thus it is said. The eighth simile is: Like a woman who is beautiful but has no protector, living without protection, who would approach her? She carries the glory of a king in her womb, but no one knows that she carries it in her belly. Birth in samsara is like a home without protection, like an impure sentient woman with a fetus. For her, what does she have that makes her have a protector? The stainless realm is like being in her womb. Thus it is said. The ninth simile is: Like the shape of gold melted inside increases, peace is the nature of outsiders. Seeing it, knowing that the gold inside, in order to refine it, removes the external obstacles. The nature is clear light, and the stains are also suddenly revealed. Like beings who are the source of jewels, purifying from the stains is the supreme enlightenment. Thus it is said. For other teachings of definite categories, thinking about the sign of the existence of the nature of the lineage, the reason for emptiness, other reasons, speaking in a provisional way, this is the definitive word, and the five ways of knowing, including benefits. The realm, the nature of the Tathagatagarbha, is originally clear light, and is the source of all dharmas. In the explanation of the Uttaratantra, it is said: The realm that has existed since beginningless time is the place of all dharmas. Because it exists, all beings and nirvana can be attained. Thus it is said. So, how is it the realm that has existed since beginningless time? It is in terms of the Tathagatagarbha itself that it is said and established that the prior limit cannot be found. What is meant by realm? It is said: Lord, what is the Tathagatagarbha? This is the essence of the transcendental dharma, the essence of the dharma that is pure in nature. Thus it is said. The place of all dharmas, it is said: Lord, for this reason, the Tathagatagarbha is the place, basis, and support of undifferentiated, inseparable, non-composite dharmas. Lord, the Tathagatagarbha is unrelated, differentiated dharmas. Separation
