It resides in the lungs. The path runs through the throat. The doors appear as the five doors of desire. The condition is the arising of various thoughts. The action is the grasping and the grasped, the cycle of existence. Thus it is said. If the root of the mind is cut, it will reach wisdom, which is the key to appearing as empty, clear, and free from elaboration. The flowing part of the sound when it appears to an object is the mind, and the knowing part is wisdom. Since the knowing part and wisdom are inseparable, they are neither one nor different. The Kunsel says: Mind and wisdom are two aspects, neither one nor different, it is a very difficult dharma to distinguish. Mind is the play of wisdom, the basis of mind is wisdom. Therefore, mind and wisdom are two, from one and different, they are called liberation and non-liberation. Thus it is said. In short, the abode of the mind is the lungs, the doors are the roots and the five senses, including the mouth and nose, the path is the veins, the objects are the six objects, and the function is illusory appearance. The sound of awareness in the heart is moved by the wind of wisdom, so it appears as clear light, and self-awareness appears as the path to liberation from suffering. The sound of awareness in the heart is moved by the wind of karma, and the play of the horse appears as thoughts, and due to ignorance, it appears as the path of samsara. The Two Truths says: Mind and mental factors, the three realms, the various fabricated images are thoughts. And, some sutras say that the mind must be stopped, The Entering the Middle Way says: When the mind ceases, it is directly realized by the body. It is said that temporarily not thinking, realizing the body of self-awareness, the path appears as clear light, and ultimately the body and wisdom are inseparable, realizing the Dharmakaya, thus it is the perfection of the qualities of liberation from suffering. Therefore, it is very important to distinguish between mind and wisdom. The second meaning is to obtain from practice, which is divided into two: practicing the distinction between mind and wisdom in this life, and the stages of spontaneously accomplished clear light appearing in the bardo. The first is divided into two: practicing mind as self-illuminating and non-grasping, and practicing wisdom as clear light and spontaneously accomplished. The first is: on the very awareness of the six consciousnesses appearing to objects, stare intently, relax the mind, let go without grasping, the play of awareness radiates, dissolves in itself, and the experience of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality arises from within. This is also the initial radiation.

Thus placed, when abiding in non-thought, awareness-essence separates from the wind and goes to its own place in the luminosity of the heart. Mind is liberated into wisdom, which is called the primordial abiding of mind-essence. By familiarizing oneself with this, afflictions are liberated into wisdom, which is called the primordial completion of luminosity. Experiences also arise, many of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptual state. Second, in a dark room or in a bright place, sit in the lotus position or squat, fix the eyes on the space about an arm's length in front, make the breath extremely slow so that its movement is not felt, fix the mind on the space, without thinking anything, relax and meditate in the original, complete great mind. If it is a dark room, one sees appearances of smoke and mirages, rainbows, lightning, bindus, and divine forms. If it is a bright place, rainbows, bindus, nets, half-nets, lotuses, stupas, and body images appear. When these appear, do not move the eyes, but fix the mind on that itself and meditate without distraction. The empty-clear, self-arisen wisdom, free from the extremes of elaboration, will arise from within. At that time, immeasurable experiences of bliss, clarity, and non-thought will also arise, but do not be attached to joy. These appearances are the outward appearance of the radiance of luminosity from within the heart. Whoever sees these sees the meaning of the realm of the Tathagatagarbha and is said to touch the luminous wisdom. As it is also said in the 'Praise of Names': 'Great light makes manifest, wisdom light is clear, the lamp of beings, the lamp of wisdom, a beautiful heap of glory.' Thus, from the fundamental heart, from the door of the eye-ocean, the appearance in the sky itself. In the 'Extensive Sutra' it says: 'From the base, luminosity in the ocean, on the path, clear in the middle of the sky, the wheel of light is very radiant.' By constantly familiarizing oneself with this day and night, it becomes larger than before, and even the mandala of the five families of deities appears. In the 'Guhyasamaja Tantra' it says: 'In the center of the sphere of the sky, a great gathering of clouds of light, endowed with a gathering of burning Buddhas, pervading all with burning wisdom.' And in the 'Bindu Samgraha' it says: 'From the great self-born wisdom, its own radiance appears as various five families.' Such appearances are the key to manifest luminosity.
