The manifestation of appearance is: When viewed in this way, in the center of the sky, there appear five-colored light spheres and a vajra chain like a golden thread. That itself is the actual sound of awareness and wisdom, and is the nature of reality. Appearance is what is seen by the eyes. The third is not relying on examples, not transmitted from one to another. It appears spontaneously without relying on signs. Appearance is from light and light spheres, etc., up to the connection of three light spheres. The second is the appearance of increasing experience: From then on, appearance increases and expands. That experience has two aspects: The experience of appearance is radiant light, upward extension, half-net, brocade patterns, and so on. The experience of wisdom is bliss, clarity, non-conceptuality, and so on. Increase is that the light becomes stronger and the wisdom's samadhi becomes clearer. Appearance is light spheres, light, etc., up to the point where awareness reaches its limit. The third is the appearance of awareness reaching its limit: appearing as body and pure lands. That is also the awareness of the object appearance being inseparable from emptiness, the awareness of insight being the vajra chain, the awareness of the basis of grasping being the three inseparable essences of nature, essence, and compassion, the awareness of the ground being the basis of all knowledge, the awareness of grasping characteristics turning away from ignorance and abiding in the basis of awareness, the awareness of breakthrough reaching the limit of practice and reaching the exhaustion of realization. Reaching the limit is: abiding in oneself, without the need for effort or accomplishment. Appearance is: experiencing the appearance of the enjoyment body. The fourth is the appearance of the exhaustion of reality: the exhaustion of the deluded thoughts of the mind with material attachments, both internal and external, and the increase of appearance. That reality is the nature of awareness, like the sky. Exhaustion is: external earth, stones, mountains, rocks, internal illusory body with material attachments, secret thoughts, and the appearance of contraction and expansion do not exist. Appearance is like the sun being clear, free from clouds, the appearance of compassion and wisdom continuously appearing. Fourth, the instructions on the support at the end have four aspects: establishing the foundation on the three that do not move, measuring with the three that abide, nailing down with the three that are obtained, and showing the extent of liberation with the four cushions. The first is that during practice, the body does not move.

By not exceeding the three sitting postures, the root-winds remain directly in place, thus thoughts naturally cease. By not moving the eyes and not separating from the three ways of looking, the manifest objects become clear, thus being free from the fabrications of conceptual thought and language. By relying on the slow movement of wind and awareness, the nature of reality abides in its own state, merging without separation of mother and child, there is a need to abide in the primordial realm. Secondly, the three abidings are: Having done so, the outer appearances abide, causing bad conditions to appear as helpers; the inner illusory body abides, free from deluded actions; the secret wind-mind abides, making it impossible for conceptual thoughts to arise. In this case, there are two ways to measure the level: by dreams and by signs appearing in body and speech. The first is: For the best diligence, dreams cease completely; the intermediate knows dreams as dreams; the worst has no bad dreams, but only good dreams. The second has four aspects: When the nature of reality is manifest, the body is like a frog placed in a wooden bowl, unable to separate from the way of abiding; speech is like a mute, unable to speak; the mind is like a dakini seizing the heart, although it appears that conceptual thoughts are scattered, it has not moved from the base. When the experience increases, the body is like a person afflicted by illness, without adornment or cleaning; speech is like a madman, speaking nonsense without a trace; the mind is like being afflicted by poison, the scattering of thoughts ceases. When awareness reaches its peak, the body is like an elephant sinking in the mud, able to move unhindered through mountains and rocks in an instant; speech is like a baby in a clay pot, pleasant and delightful; the mind is like being shot in the heart with an arrow, the scattering of memory and thought ceases. When the nature of reality is exhausted, the body is like a corpse in a cemetery, without the delusion of affirmation and negation. Speech is like an echo in a valley, repeated by others; the mind is like a person who has recovered from the plague, memory and thought are purified in the realm of reality, and awareness abides in self-illumination. Thirdly, the three attainments are: By gaining mastery over outer appearances, appearances and conditions are liberated into the pure land; by gaining mastery over the inner aggregates, the illusory body is liberated into clear light; by gaining mastery over the secret realm and awareness, deluded conceptual thoughts naturally cease. Fourth, the four confidences are: Upwards, there is hope of attaining Buddhahood, and no doubt of not attaining it; downwards, there is hope of not being born in samsara, and no doubt of being born.
