It does not go beyond the three, that is, in realization, the key to manifestation is body, speech, and mind. The key to each must be followed. Also, this body should not often go beyond the three bodies. Thus it is said. In "Clarity of Space" it says: Even if awareness transforms to abide in the body, if it is not controlled by the chakras, it cannot appear as the freedom of wisdom. Thus it is said. In "Lamp Illuminating" it says: The basis of awareness is the body, without a body there is no awareness, if there is a body it is certain that there is awareness. Therefore, the awareness that exists in the body, with the characteristic of the totality of dharmas, from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet, is examined and studied in various ways, but it cannot be found through study. With divination and horoscopes, etc., it cannot be found even if observed and studied in various ways. So, is it completely non-existent? It is not completely non-existent, if the body and speech are full, it will manifest. For example, blood pervades the whole body, but some foolish people, searching for blood anywhere in the body, cannot find a trace. So, is there no blood in the body? It is not that there is no blood in the body, but it pervades everything and depends on blood. Just as a person with skill, cutting a vein will bleed, so is the wisdom in the body. Thus it is said. The essence of the key is, in realization it says: The body should not often go beyond the way of abiding of the three bodies. Thus it is said. In "After Death" it says: Establish the way of abiding of the elephant and the sage. Thus it is said. In "Pearl Necklace" it says: The key to the body is threefold, one should abide like a lion, an elephant, and a sage. Therefore, first, the way of abiding of the Dharmakaya is like a lion: sitting on the cushion like a female dog, with the soles of the feet together. Knees spread outwards, with both palms pressed on the ground, holding the thumbs. The upper body is upright like a lion, with the neck slightly raised upwards. The eyes look unblinkingly at the space between the eyebrows. Second, the way of abiding of the Sambhogakaya is like a sleeping elephant: lying face down on the cushion, with knees and chest together. Both elbows propped on the ground, with both palms supporting the chin, fingers touching the cheeks. Back straight, eyes squinting at the sky. Third, the way of abiding of the Nirmanakaya is like a sage sitting cross-legged: legs crossed on the cushion.
