Through the three conducts, the unborn state of union of calm abiding and insight is generated, causing the unarisen to arise. Through the three main practices, the arisen is recognized. Through the three spontaneous liberations, the arisen is excavated and cultivated, namely: first, severing conceptual thoughts; second, searching for the flaws of the mind; and third, examining the three origins, abodes, and destinations. The first is: among the three—body, speech, and mind—where does the one wandering in samsara reside? Who is the one who affirms and negates? From the previous life to this one, who is the one who goes from this life to the next? Which is the most important? By questioning and examining in this way, the mind is the most important, and knowing this is the first severing of conceptual thoughts. The second is: if this mind that acts in this way grasps everything as self and clings to "I" as true, then are these three—body, speech, and mind—existing as one, or are they existing separately? If they are one, then just as the mind is invisible, the body should also be invisible. And just as the body is formed as a gross form, the mind and speech should also be gross forms. Just as speech is known as sound, the body and mind should also be the same. By examining in this way and so on, knowing that all affirmations and negations of whether they are one or separate are made by the mind and are not established separately, is the second searching for the flaws of the mind. The third is: this mind that grasps meaningless things as self, where did it first arise from? In what form does it exist? Where does it reside now? And where will it ultimately go? By examining the mind itself in this way, knowing that the three origins, abodes, and destinations are not established, that its essence is free from being defined, that awareness and emptiness are naked and without trace, and that it is free from any support, is the third examining of the three origins, abodes, and destinations, which is to generate the meaning of reality, causing the unarisen to arise. Then, if the examination of the three origins, abodes, and destinations has already been explained before, isn't it a repetition? It is not a repetition, because the previous examination was examining the object of perception and knowing that it is not established, while this is examining the subject of perception and thereby landing on the essence itself. Second, through the three main practices, the arisen is recognized, namely: abiding, appearing as the adornment of the mind; scattering, appearing as the play of the mind; and abiding in the state of non-dual equality. The first is: relying on the three vajra postures, the mind abides as it is, as it says in the "Precious Lamp Sutra": "From the nature of the three vajra postures, the meaning of primordial purity naturally manifests." Therefore, the mountain-like vajra posture is the body's vajra posture...

does not move. Like the ocean remaining still, it is like fixing the eyes on a point in front without moving. Like awareness remaining still, it is to rest evenly in the natural state of reality. At that time, the elaboration of negation and affirmation, good and bad, acceptance and rejection, etc., is pacified, and the primordial wisdom of co-emergent clarity and emptiness abides in the state of original purity. The Transcendent Treatise says: In the essence of original purity, wisdom, there is no possibility of ignorance. There is no counting of one and two. In the single, undivided state, there is no establishment of mere wisdom. And, the Self-Arisen Treatise says: It transcends the extremes of permanence and annihilation. The stains of the four extremes are self-purified. Thus. At that time, the nature of mind, free from elaboration, is the Dharmakaya. Clarity without grasping is the Sambhogakaya. The unceasing manifestation of various forms is the Nirmanakaya. The essence, nature, and compassion are inseparable. The Jewel Array says: The fully enlightened Buddha is self-awareness. The essence does not change in the three times. The nature is always unceasing. Compassion shines upon all. And, the Transcendent Treatise says: Wisdom abides in its own nature, inseparable in the form of the three kayas. And, the Pearl Garland says: From the original purity of the beginning, it cannot be said to be delusion. Likewise, what is non-delusion? Therefore, delusion is originally pure. In short, the nature of mind abides without moving. Like the ocean abides without moving, it is naturally accomplished in its own state. Secondly, in that state, whatever play of affirmation and negation arises, when it arises, there is no antidote, it is self-liberated like a snake knot. The Transcendent Treatise says: The awareness that arises, like a snake knot, is self-liberated. Since there is no antidote, cease effort. The essence is naturally primordially liberated. And, the Jewel Array says: Unobstructed potential manifests in any way. From the moment of arising, it is liberated in its own place. It cannot be merely said to be liberated. Likewise, what is not liberated? Thus, just as waves arise in the ocean but do not go beyond the nature of the ocean, so too, no matter how thoughts arise in the mind, they do not go beyond the nature of original purity. Therefore, not making any welcoming or sending off of whatever arises, but letting it go naturally in its self-arisen state, is realizing that thoughts are the play of reality, transcending the objects of abandoning and accepting, negating and affirming. The Dohas say: Like
