And so on. Conceptual thought is this very movement of breath, both inward and outward. Thus it is said. Secondly, in the heart resides the awareness of the three aspects of essence, nature, and compassion. The radiant energy of compassion travels from the heart to the lungs through channels as thin as horsehair. In the lungs, it mixes with the wind, which is without consciousness, resulting in consciousness or awareness. This is like an eye without eyelids. The movement of various objects is carried out by the wind, like a blind horse with legs. These two, the awareness and the wind, reside in the lungs. From the lungs, a channel extends to each of the five sense organs, and through these channels, the awareness travels outward, giving rise to various conceptual thoughts about objects. However, the nature of the wind itself is to move without conceptualizing. When one falls into deep sleep, the radiant energy of awareness, mixed with the wind, dissolves into the heart, and thus dissolves into the ground luminosity. When the luminosity is distracted, the radiant energy of awareness does not travel to the lungs but emerges from the eyes, becoming the wisdom of non-duality of clarity and emptiness, like a self-arisen lamp of wisdom. Furthermore, the nature of awareness, when not mixed with the wind, abides in the wisdom of non-conceptualization of clarity and emptiness, as in the bardo of luminosity, and as it abides in clarity and emptiness in the present light. Therefore, mind is the power of awareness. As it is said in the Klong gsal: "Mind is the power of memory, thought, and awareness. All that becomes appearance and knowledge is not separate from awareness itself." Thus it is said. Therefore, the power or radiance of awareness is carried by the horse of wind, reaching the sense organs and giving rise to various conceptual thoughts about objects, whether gross, subtle, or unstated. However, that part of the radiant energy of compassion, which is without color, mixes with the nature of wind, which moves but is without color. When the two are mixed, whether radiating outward or abiding inward, there is no color, no shape, no identifiable essence. Although it appears like a flash of lightning and disappears without a trace, if measured from its own nature, there is no place of origin, and no identifiable mind of the originator. It does not abide anywhere now, and ultimately does not go anywhere. If examined, its nature is non-existent, but if not examined, it abides in a state of mere appearance. This is because the power of wisdom mixes with the wind, and is temporarily labeled as mind, but there is no independently existing mind. Because the wind has no identifiable essence.

Ye. The energy of wisdom arises from the state of primordial purity, because primordial purity is emptiness, free from elaboration. Moreover, wherever the mind is, there is wisdom, like the sun and its rays. In "Vast Expanse of Clarity," it says: "Like the sun's rays, the mind is the energy of wisdom and awareness; without wisdom, there is no mind." Therefore, the mind is the energy or radiance of the wisdom of compassion and awareness. Furthermore, the three, essence, nature, and compassion, have three radiances: the radiance of essence is emptiness, free from elaboration, the non-conceptual Dharmakaya; the radiance of nature is clarity, without fixation, the self-appearing Sambhogakaya; the radiance of compassion is awareness, radiating various manifestations, the all-pervading Nirmanakaya. Third, summarizing the meaning of how the Buddha-nature abides: In the "Refutation of Extremes," it says: "Because it pervades the minds of sentient beings, there is no sentient being who is not a Buddha." And in the "Guhyasamaja Tantra," it says: "Apart from the precious mind, there is neither Buddha nor sentient being." Therefore, the mind is the radiance of wisdom in the heart, and just as the wisdom in the heart is complete with the forty-two peaceful deities, its radiance must also be present in the mind, just as when looking at a mirror, a second radiance of the face must appear in the mirror. Therefore, in "Vast Expanse of Clarity," it says: "The collection of realizations in the sentient being's own continuum is the forty-two Buddhas. The five aggregates are the five fathers and mothers, the five poisons and stinginess are the six Thubpas, the eight consciousnesses are the eight Bodhisattvas, fathers and mothers, the four doors are the four doorkeepers, fathers and mothers, and the right and left are the sun and moon." Therefore, the five conceptualizations of the five aggregates as objects are the five fathers, and the five conceptualizations as subjects are the five mothers. The six conceptualizations of desire, hatred, ignorance, pride, jealousy, and stinginess are the six Thubpas. The conceptualizations of the eight objects of the eight consciousnesses, such as the alaya-consciousness, are the eight Bodhisattvas, and the conceptualizations of the eight subjects are the eight Bodhisattva mothers. The four objects of the conceptualizations of anger, extreme hatred, obvious displeasure, and pervasive attachment and aversion are the four father doorkeepers, and the four subjects are the four mother doorkeepers. The two conceptualizations of grasping and apprehending are the sun and moon, that is, the two Samantabhadra fathers and mothers, these forty-two are the forty-two Buddhas. These seemingly bad phenomena are also the energy of wisdom, so in reality they are
