That which appears is the body of Vairochana. The wisdom of awareness is unmoved by the winds of conceptual thought, hence it is the body of Akshobhya. Like a wish-fulfilling jewel, the arising of needs and desires from the realization of awareness is the body of Ratnasambhava. That awareness itself enters into the appearance of infinite light and is immeasurable, hence it is the body of Amitabha. The unceasing compassionate awareness-skill is the great self-arising, that is, the body of Amoghasiddhi. Furthermore, that compassionate awareness itself is empty from the beginning, hence it is the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu. Its essence is without impurity, hence the basis for any appearance is unceasingly clear, it is like a mirror-like wisdom. From the very moment awareness appears, it is not separated from anything, hence it is the wisdom of equality. The clarity of the individual appearances of the wisdom of awareness is the discriminating wisdom. The wisdom of awareness is unobstructed in anything, hence it is the accomplishing wisdom. Furthermore, that clear and empty awareness itself is the path of all Buddhas, hence it is the Tathagata family. The essence of awareness is unchanging and stable, hence it is the Vajra family. Qualities spontaneously arise in awareness, hence it is the Ratna family. The wisdom of awareness is untainted by faults, hence it is the Padma family. If the essence of awareness itself is not realized, one cannot attain Buddhahood, hence it is the Karma family. Furthermore, the wisdom of awareness, in terms of its primordially stainless aspect, is white light. Similarly, because qualities are complete, it is yellow. Because it is unsearched and abiding, it is red. Because activity is complete, it is green. Because it is unchanging and stable, it is blue. The five winds and five wisdoms have been explained. Furthermore, the wisdom of awareness is taught in three ways. In the "Vast Expanse of Clarity" it says: From the skill of awareness arise three wisdoms: the wisdom of emptiness of essence, the wisdom of clarity of nature, and the wisdom of compassion that pervades all. Thus it says. Furthermore, the essence of awareness is without object, its nature is clear and empty, and compassion appears in various ways, hence three lights arise, as in the previous: Because there is no object, it is the light of the Dharmakaya. Because it is unceasingly clear, it is the light of the Sambhogakaya. Because appearances are various, it is the light of the Nirmanakaya. Thus it says. It is also taught as six objects: the wisdom of awareness, to this, forms appear in various ways, but there is no grasping, hence it is the object of form-appearance emptiness. Sounds appear in various ways, but they are empty, hence it is the object of sound emptiness. Smells are various, but grasping is empty, hence it is the object of smell emptiness. Taste

Not clinging to the various things experienced is the realm of empty taste. Not clinging to the various things touched is the realm of empty touch. For various thoughts and awareness, letting them arise and dissolve on their own is the realm of simultaneous self-liberation. From the aspect of mixing with the five essences, awareness-wisdom is referred to as the five essences. Because the thought of clinging to awareness as being like space arises, therefore, the act of clinging to awareness as being like space, from the clinging to the essence of emptiness-clarity, wind arises. That essence of wind is aware and moving. From wind, heat arises, therefore, the essence of fire manifests as clinging to heat. From fire, form actually arises, therefore, the essence of earth arises as clinging to form. Among them, the essence of water arises in the form of hot vapor. Because of clinging to that form, therefore, from the seed of cause, the body arises, and there is clinging to self. From this, wisdom pervades the beginning and the end, all arises from the play of awareness-wisdom, therefore it is real wisdom. Pure and impure arise from the presence or absence of clinging to them, and from the difference between awareness and non-awareness, samsara and nirvana arise. This is the explanation of the compassion of the five aggregates. Thus, although essence, nature, and compassion are explained as distinct, they are not separate. As it says in the *Madhyamakavatara*: "When wisdom abides in its own nature, there is no distinction of the three." Therefore, from the perspective of the nature of phenomena, it is called essence, which is free from the elaboration of emptiness. From the perspective of the possessor of phenomena, it is called nature, which is appearance free from grasping. From the perspective of union-non-duality, it is called compassion, which is awareness-emptiness, free from permanence and annihilation. The second point is about the way the mind abides. The way the mind abides is generally shown by essence, nature, and compassion. It is specifically explained by the way it is the radiance of wisdom. The meaning is summarized by how it abides in the nature of the Buddha, there are three points. The first point is from the scripture introducing the Buddha: "Secret Lord, listen! The support of the mind is one's own body, this mass of flesh and blood, this upper abdomen. The place is abiding in the lungs. The path is connected between the lungs and the throat by subtle vessels and tubes. From there, the breath flows upward, it is the path-vessel of the mind. The doors are the three doors of desire, namely the two nostrils and the mouth. The knowledge of desire arises from there. The very essence of the mind is conceptual thought.
