Etc. Appear as the source of the five birth places. That is, pleasure, pain, and equanimity. The Asuras have weapons, and the gods have desirable qualities. Like a fast-moving wheel, it constantly turns and stays for a long time. Likewise, all kinds of appearances, like seeing a snake on a rope. Grasping what is not as what is, forming the outer environment and the inner beings. If examined, it is just a rope. The outer environment and the inner beings are inherently empty. Ultimate truth and conventional truth are colored forms. As it is said, first, from the nature of the ground, due to mistaking the radiance of wisdom as the object to be grasped. Like seeing a snake on a rope, grasping it in a reversed way. The body and, the place and, the enemy and, the relatives and, the mountain houses, men and women, horses and cattle, forests, etc., countless things. Like the appearance of confusion in a dream, appearing in various ways to untruthful things, the sentient beings of the three realms wander in samsara. Grasping self where there is no self, grasping self where there is no autonomy. Grasping happiness in suffering and its causes. Grasping the reversed as the truth. Diligently striving day and night for the appearances and affairs of the world, until death, a lifetime is spent in illusion, so in the bardo, they are also led and wandered by the same appearances. With good and bad karma, they are born in high and low places in samsara. Because of practicing various confusions, there is no time to be liberated from samsara. If examined, this illusion is like a dream, illusory, without foundation or root, it is the nature of appearing without being. It is only loose, and there is no real establishment, but in the interval, subtle clinging to reality is the cause, so now it appears as various large forms, for example, in a vast and distant place, it appears as crows, yaks, and mountains, which is the same. As Dharmakirti said: Just as far away and terrifying, small things appear as large things. It is the same as this Dharma. Yogis who see in this way, because they understand that samsara is like a dream, they cut off the root of illusion and realize the meaning of the nature of mind transcending birth and death, and illusion becomes spontaneously accomplished in the great groundlessness. Having crossed the ocean of existence, they have gained a firm foothold in great bliss. Third, if ignorance disappears, then everything up to old age and death will disappear, and liberation from samsara will be like, for example, one's own appearance in the bardo.

Ignorance ceases through recognition. From this, actions cease. From this, consciousness ceases. With its cessation, the grasping of name and form ceases. With its cessation, the grasping of the six sense sources ceases. With its cessation, contact, which engages with objects of grasping and being grasped, ceases. With its cessation, all feelings cease. From this, craving for objects ceases. Thus, with the cessation of attachment to objects, the karma of taking future births ceases. With its cessation, the grasping of existence in the womb in the future ceases. With the cessation of entering the womb, birth ceases. Since there is no birth, there is no death, so aging and death cease. In a single instant, the cycle of the twelve links of dependent origination is cut off. In the primordial ground, within the sphere of the inner clear wisdom treasure, the three, Buddhahood, Bodhi, and Awareness, are attained. Third, regarding the manner of arising of the three karmas, there are three. Namely, giving, keeping moral discipline, cultivating patience, and so forth, place power upon the base of all. How is it? Giving results in great wealth. Keeping moral discipline results in obtaining a body in the happy realms. Patience results in a healthy and desirable body, and so forth. Second, non-virtue is also similar in manner to that. Non-virtue, with the former as the cause, ripens into suffering in the future. In short, all suffering in samsara arises from non-virtue. All happiness arises from virtue. Liberation is to be freed from both. As the teacher Nagarjuna said in the Precious Garland of the Middle Way: Suffering arises from non-virtue. Happy realms arise from virtue. Not abiding in the two is liberation. Thus it is said. Furthermore, if the cause is not prevented, the result will arise from the cause, even if it is not desired. Therefore, one should strive to abandon the cause of non-virtue. How is it abandoned? By practicing perfect virtue, there is no suffering and happiness is attained. In the Pratimoksha Sutra it is said: All phenomena arise from causes. The Tathagata has spoken of that cause. Do no evil. Perfectly practice virtue. Subdue your own mind. This is the teaching of the Buddhas. Thus it is said. Third, unwavering karma arises from meditating on the samadhi of the two upper realms. As one becomes accustomed to it, one is born in the state of formless meditation, and therefore does not transmigrate to other realms, hence it is unwavering karma. Here, to ascertain its meaning, there are three: the thought of the four meditations.
