From earth, the body is formed. From that, grasping and being grasped arise. As the "Garland of Pearls" says: Because the clinging of the six consciousnesses does not cease, even the Dharmakaya itself is bound by grasping. And as the "Klong gsal" says: Wisdom and ignorance grasp objects. There, when grasping, wind, and mind gather, they enter the vessel of the five elements. Having entered there, from the arising and ceasing of the elements, the five aggregates of affliction are formed. Thus it is. From the spontaneously present resonance of the five elements, the world of endurance is formed by the blessing of wisdom. From the essence of those outer five elements, sentient beings, the inner essence, are formed. Thus, the mind's own power manifests as the five elements and the five poisons. The appearance of the five poisons gathers in the act of the union of father and mother. There, desire arises, and ignorance enters the womb. As the "Klong gsal" says: When the five aggregates gather and the signs unite, it is the nature of the five afflictions, the six consciousnesses, and the five wisdoms. Thus it is. From there, having been born, due to the delusion of grasping and being grasped, one constantly wanders in the four rivers of birth, old age, sickness, and death, which is the nature of samsara. If the formation of the outer and inner world is explained in detail, as the "Klong gsal" says: Outer, inner, secret, and so forth, the actions of waxing, waning, change, and transformation arise. Thus it is. Earth, water, fire, wind, and space are the outer five elements. How are sentient beings the cause of arising? Initially, space, emptiness, is naturally pure and dwells inseparable from wisdom, and from the very beginning, it dwells in the rain of wisdom, therefore it is called wisdom. Thus, in that pure emptiness of space, the self-resonance of wisdom, the five lights, dwells clearly and spontaneously. Since good, evil, samsara, and nirvana are not established there, it is called primordial purity. Since it has existed from the beginning, it is called spontaneous presence. Such a meaning is not established in either samsara or nirvana. Thus, if it does not exist from the beginning, it is impossible for the fruit of wisdom to arise from effort. Just as fire does not arise from churning water. Therefore, since wisdom is inherently present in the primordial state, even if there is delusion in between, ultimately, when the delusion is cleared and one becomes a Buddha, from the nature of the Dharmakaya, the Rupakaya dwells inseparably from non-conceptual wisdom. That is also the place where the benefit of sentient beings is accomplished. Thus, from the nature of emptiness, the power of wisdom arises, and the five lights appear. Because there is unceasing awareness there, there are five lights

Above, clinging arises. That clinging is called wind, and it is the outward radiation of the compassionate power of luminosity. Furthermore, how do the gross elements arise when the compassionate power clings to the five lights of the field of appearance, distinguishing them separately? Because of mistaking the self-radiance of individual discriminating wisdom, the red light, for substantiality, red fire arises. From that, warmth arises from the power of wind's awareness. Again, when the self-radiance of equality, the yellow light, appears clearly, clinging arises, and so yellow earth arises. When the self-radiance of mirror-like wisdom, the white light, appears, clinging arises, and so white water arises. When the self-radiance of accomplishing activity, the green light, appears, clinging arises, and so green wind arises. The element of space has been co-existent with wisdom from the very beginning, and so it is unchanging. Because clinging arises to the self-radiance of wisdom, the lights, the four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind arise. They are pervaded by the wind of awareness, and so they accomplish all actions. Thus, because clinging arises to the five wisdoms, the elements are actually established. Moreover, because they are first produced by the power of ignorance, each of the five elements produces its own power. When they all come together, the world of container and contents is formed. Because clinging arises to the sky, which is empty from the beginning, the mandala of wind is formed. Then, because clinging arises to each of the elements, water and earth are formed on top of them, and so the city including the iron fence, the four continents, and Mount Meru is formed. Fire is the power of wind, and it pervades all three elements. These are the ways in which the outer container is formed. Secondly, the way in which the inner sentient beings are formed is: From Rangshar: The desire, form, and formless realms, all three depend on it. Neither existent nor non-existent, nor anything at all, with no slight consciousness, the formless realms are born from it. Those with form, such as the Pure Abodes, are like drops falling from above to below. The desire realm, such as Akanishta, gods, anti-gods, and humans, from manifest highness, there are three places. Animals, hungry ghosts, and hells, those sentient beings have four births. Thus, the three realms themselves, the five aggregates and five faculties, five limbs and five essences, five objects and five afflictions, five minds, five thoughts, and five concepts, grasping and being grasped, are established as samsara itself.
