Having exhausted, one imitates others. The mind is like a fog in the sky; just as those fogs vanish in an instant, in an instant the accumulation of habitual patterns becomes enlightened without a trace. Third, nailing with the three attainments: In "Vast Expanse of Clarity" it says, "By nailing with the three attainments, the contaminated aggregates become invisible." Thus, first, obtaining self-mastery over birth: When the appearance of the aggregates ceases and does not appear as something coarse, if one works for the benefit of sentient beings by placing awareness on a finger, all appearances revert to themselves. At times, all objects move and sounds are heard. If awareness is placed on sentient beings such as humans, by the key point of the spontaneously arising wisdom abiding in them, even if the five inexpiable sins, which have no good or bad karma, are committed, there is no doubt that one will become a Buddha by self-purifying the elements. At this time, even if awareness is placed on an object, it will move and be able to make sounds. Obtaining self-mastery over entering: By placing awareness on a finger and leaving it in its own state, one becomes a Buddha invisibly in that very place. Obtaining self-mastery over wind and mind: Because the wind is workable, all the qualities of wind and mind arise. When other sentient beings pass away, if awareness is placed on them, even if they have committed the five inexpiable sins, they will become enlightened equally with oneself. This is also due to the key point that there is no good or bad karma. One penetrates mountains and rocks without obstruction, and direct perception arises without limitation. Fourth, the four confidences: In "String of Pearls" it says, "The measure is the yoga of the four confidences." And in "Heap of Jewels" it says, "With the four great confidences of unchanging view, one also grasps the measure of non-conceptual wisdom." Thus, there are two upward confidences and two downward confidences, making four. First, at that time, even if one hears the inconceivable qualities of the Three Jewels, one does not develop longing, because one realizes that there is nothing other than one's own awareness. At that time, there is no hope of attaining Buddhahood or doubt of not attaining it, so there are two upward confidences. Second, even if one hears of the suffering and lifespan of the six classes of beings, one has no fear, because one knows that one's own awareness has never been mistaken. At that time, one is certain that there is no one wandering in samsara, so there is no doubt of falling into samsara, and there is no hope of attaining a happy rebirth, so there is a downward confidence.

Secondly, regarding the qualities of the boundary, it is said in "Klong gsal": "Through the instructions of the boundaries, the qualities of the higher ones are brought to the limit." Thus it is said. The fault of not having it is also said in the same text: "If there is no support of the essential points of the boundary, the practice of Dzogchen will not reach the end." Thus it is said. The necessity also has two aspects: temporarily, it is for accomplishing the direct purpose, and ultimately, it is necessary for perfecting the realization of the higher ones. Thus, if there are no four supports, there will be faults that are the opposite of them. These have already shown the way of liberation for the best of diligence. Secondly, the instructions for liberation in the intermediate state for the middling are: In the characteristics of the Vajra Path, it is said: "The faithful, lazy, and inferior being, with little strength of habit and possessing instructions, is the teaching of the liberation in the intermediate state of reality, which is the means of practicing the general establishment of the intermediate state." Thus it is said. Therefore, here there are two aspects: the general establishment of the intermediate state and the teaching of the means of practicing the specific. Firstly, in "Klong gsal" it is said: "The divisions and boundaries of the intermediate state, as well as the way of abiding and the way of appearing, are these four." Thus it is said. Firstly, the divisions are: the intermediate state of birth, the intermediate state of dying, the intermediate state of the clear light of reality, and the intermediate state of existence. Secondly, the boundaries are: from birth until being afflicted by the disease of death is the first. From the way of the dissolution of the four elements until the cessation of the inner breath is the second. From the cessation of the inner breath until the appearance of spontaneous accomplishment is the third. From then until entering the womb is the fourth. Thirdly, the way of abiding is: the cessation of the appearance of wisdom due to being established with material things is the first, as it is said in the "Union of Sun and Moon": "The elements and the aggregates, as well as the sources and the faculties, the objects and the object-possessors, and the consciousnesses." Thus it is said. The way of abiding of the second, in "Klong gsal" it is said: "The arising of the causes of death and the disturbance of diseases, the suffering of body, speech, and mind." Thus it is said. The third, also in the same text, it is said: "The clinging to self abandons the support of the body, and enjoys the meaning of reality." Thus it is said. The fourth, in "Thal 'gyur" it is said: "The previously arising fleshy form of existence, all the senses are pure and unimpeded, possessing the power of miraculous activity of karma, irreversible, that is a Gandharva." Thus it is said. Fourthly, the way of appearing, also in the same text, it is said: "The appearance of the intermediate state is, abiding in its own nature, the aggregates, elements, and afflictions appear as objects, the faintness and confusion of dying, and the consciousness."
